You can have the best armed forces in the history of the world, but if you are an incompetent criminal without a plan, you can still lose a war, and rather quickly.

Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
Farage accused of U turn as he says UK should stay out of Iran war
Farage, leading, as usual, by watching which way the crowd is moving and running to the front.
Labour are part of the problem. Have been for some time. What are they for? Upholding the privilege of their private, wealthy donors.
Awks for Tories & Reform who want to keep us hooked on fossil fuels: new @theCCCuk report shows transition to net zero will cost less than a single oil shock - Β£4bn a year - as well as delivering health & security benefits

Quite the thread.

The public remembers Iraq. Why doesn't the press? By Martin Bright. Pictured: newspaper splashes about Iraq: Evening Standard: 45 Minutes From Attack, The Mail: Now Blair Delivers a Stinging Blow to PM Over War
Seven in 10 Britons are sceptical about UK involvement in Iran, but their newspapers have other ideas. Some of us recall the last time Fleet Street was so disastrously in favour of war, writes former Observer home affairs editor @martinbright.bsky.social

Our dependency on fossil fuels makes us vulnerable. Wars across the world are pushing up prices for households in the UK.
Why keep waiting for the next crisis? We need to transition to clean power as fast as we can to protect people and our economy.

Looking forward to it. Tickets still available
Small changes make life better for everyone!
About 6 months ago there was a gaping hole in the middle of this footpath that the utility company left after some repairs. it's finally fixed!
All too typical for this Labour government.
Weak action to start off with, watered down much further after corporate lobbying

Definitions of Islamophobia exist, almost unanimously accepted by all Muslim organisations, there's even an APPG one!
The new definition falls short in providing protection for British Muslims, at a time when Islamophobic hate crimes are skyrocketting

SAY IT WITH US. DEFEND JURY TRIALS Green Party Promoted by Chris Williams on behalf of The Green Party, both at PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ
Labour's attempt to remove our right to a jury trial in thousands of cases - including protest related offences - is a serious attack on our civil liberties.
That's why the Green MPs have tabled an amendment to reject it.
The Green Party says no to Labour's toolkit for tyrants.
From 1941 to 1952 in the UK, the top rate of income tax was 98%. A luxury goods purchase tax introduced in 1940 later rose to 100%.
Result? The share of incomes captured by the richest 0.1% fell from 7% in 1937 to just over 1% in 1975. That's what we need today. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
To restore democracy and create a fairer, safer, greener world, we need massive taxes on the ultra-rich. As in the 1940s. People get confused about this. The main purpose of such taxes is *not* to raise revenue. The point is to stop the few dominating the many. It's an essential democratic measure.
It is THE fundamental problem. To survive and prosper we must make billionaires history. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
I wasn't intending to turn this into a thread, but it seems to have happened anyway.
It's about the great plague on our lives: the extreme wealth of a tiny number of people.
And what to do about it.
It probably shouldn't be legal for politicians to receive gifts, donations or pay from other governments. Particularly not ones that have been spying on us.

NEW: Is this the broligarchyβs first world war? AI, like war & rape, is a hyper-masculine fantasy of God-like power, a myth at the dark heart of what weβre seeing play out in the Gulf. This war hasnβt replaced the Epstein scandal. It is the Epstein scandal.

"Don't Forget Gaza and the Palestinians"
"Israel is using the illegal war on Iran to continue to kill and starve Gaza, steal more Palestinian land, and restrict movement in the West Bank, writes Diana Buttu for Zeteo. "Don't look away."
I'm starting to find the number of senior people associated with Brexit who have 'prior commitments' preventing them from speaking at an event slightly suspicious
Screeching 180 from Reform leader Farage whoβs gone from Trumpian βBomb the Islamistsβ to βWe cannot get involved directly in another foreign war, we donβt have a Navy, we canβt even defend our own military base in Cyprusβ overnight.
Heβs seen the polling showing the public donβt support the war.
How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.
