All the coincidences!
I'm finding it slightly hard to believe that they would assume finding a dress in the room of a eunuch = actually a woman, instead of cross-dressing femboy.
But that's just me.
I think it's interesting that the rebels are also like - hereditary role is good when WE do it.
Don't worry chubby-chaser - In reality, she'll regain the weight, she lost it due to a crash diet - that's not going to last.
Flyer-ing
Ancient Activism.
"You as a lady... How should I address you?"
This is what I'm saying - cishet characters with queer experiences.
The princess lost weight (like we expected to happen - because of course she did) and now the guy who had a crush on her doesn't recognize her, and thinks she isn't as beautiful as the plump princess.
Yeah, I saw it coming.
AH!!!!
I missed the deadline for "Queer Your Bookshelf".
Damn it.
Oh no - her feelings are hurt and now he realizes what he's done.
๐ญ
And now he's teasing her and this is comedy gold.
But SHE doesn't know that HE knows - so, now she's worried he's gay.
๐
Bastards - we got a *flash back* type scene at the start of the next episode, which is a modified recap, so he knew she was a woman before confessing.
Now - THAT is queer baiting - like, what a fucking tease.
Like, I can't even be mad, it's so well done.
I guess I shouldn't call her "queer coded" because she's not. I mean, taken at face value, she's a cis girl who wanted to live as a girl and now a straight cis woman who wants to live as a woman.
And there is no indication she is anything other than that, but her *experiences* are queer coded.
But, I guess I'll have to settle for a queer-coded cross-dressing cis woman falling in love with a possibly bisexual man who is confident enough to confess his love to a eunuch.
The BL where a Crown Prince falls in love with his twinky eunuch would be awesome.
Or, a love story where a trans woman becomes a eunuch, falls in love with the Minister's son, and she socially transitions and they travel the world together.
I'm here for it.
So, now, of course - the romance is happening and the court is noticing and now everyone thinks the Crown Prince is gay - including the Crown Prince.
But, the don't worry. It's not gay-gay, because the eunuch is *really* a cis woman - REALLY.
I take it back this would make a better BL.
Okay - they got a police-man (basically) to deal with their problem. Great! That was clever.
Now, why did they kill a bunch of people? What was the point of that part?
The fuck y'all.
Oh - but here we have 2 elite fighters against - a dozen or so fights - and like, this is also SILLY.
Like, fine, have the good guys be great fighters, but holy shit...just...be reasonable.
Good, they didn't, cause that's just f'ing ridiculous.
If they kiss under water I'm going to scream.
Whenever I see the princess, I just get mad. Like, the fat-make-up isn't as bad as others I've seen, but it makes her look like she's just had a horrible allergic reaction and is just puffed up like a balloon.
Just. Hire. Fat. Actors.
"Your Highness! Please put me to death!"
"Do you mean that?"
"Pardon? No, I don't. Please allow me to live!"
๐
Okay - starting up a potential love triangle between the Crown Prince and the Minister's grandson.
Chickens!
They are taking a test and our MC holds up what looks like an ancient scantron.
I'm wondering if those were a thing.
And calling them "unserious" implies a different SET OF HUMANS that *are* serious and do the work necessary to actually KNOW THINGS.
Which is also true - these folks are not SERIOUS folks - Shirley is not a SERIOUS investigative reporter, Rogan is not a SERIOUS journalist or philosopher, etc.
These are the folks that are prone to going off about "personal responsibility" - which is never aimed inward.
So - throwing that back at them - calling THEM "irresponsible" (which they absolutely are) is a way to disrupt the story they are telling.
Can you imagine any of these outrage-farms - doing a somber retraction if they made a mistake?
CAN YOU EVEN CONCEIVE OF THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENING.
Nick Shirley - apologizing to his audience for saying things that aren't true - what a world that would be.
And I really do think that this expectation that adults should be *serious* and *responsible* has been slipping away.
Success is measured in MONEY and ENGAGEMENT - not being ethical and responsible, and having integrity, and caring about your impact and the truth - right?
Can you imagine.
Because, instead of the ableist or classist overtones of "stupid", "uneducated", and "ignorant"...
Is the implied expectation that they SHOULD be serious and SHOULD be responsible - and that just doesn't exist culturally right now.
Their cultural job is to be entertaining, right?
