Tomorrow afternoon, in Wolverhampton...
A photo of a gable end wall painted with a deisgn which reads: the future demands your participation. In front of it, orange letters spell out LUTON.
Thank you, Luton. Last night's gig was amazing. π
Making hope normal again. πππ
We need a party to effectively counter the right and Reform in particular and it would seem that @greenparty.org.uk and @zackpolanski.bsky.social are doing just that.
A poster with four headshots. Text in a red banner reads "The Black Country Society presents... A Listen and a Loff. An hour of top-notch entertainment from local voices. Pay as you feel. Alex Vann: singer songwriter. Emma Purshouse: Black Country poetry. Jane Seabourne: Bostin Fittle, a mini talk. Hosted by Steve Pottinger. 3pm Sat 7th March, KTeas Cakes, Wolverhampton.
Coming up this weekend, it's a Saturday afternoon gig in Wolverhampton for @blackcountrysoc.bsky.social. With contributions from @alexvann.bsky.social @emmapurshouse.bsky.social and Jane Seabourne. It'll be great!

I honestly believe Farage's undoing will be how twitchy and defensive and huffy he gets at the slightest bit of what he perceives as criticism. He's even worse than Starmer with it.
It feels like small beer with everything that's happening, but ta for ordering my book, folks. π
Yes, the world is going to hell in a handcart, but last night I was lucky enough to go to Wolves' Arena Theatre for their 50th birthday celebrations. AND I watched 'Hello Fred' β an amazing play about a 2-foot puppet taking on the world. It's at the Rep in Brum today and tomorrow. See it if you can!
It took just one phone call from Donald Trump for Starmer to jump into yet another Middle East illegal war, failing to learn the lessons of the tragedies of Iraq, Libya and Syria.
This is a great review of a truly excellent poetry collection.
A haiku. Title: same as it ever was. War never changes. Rich men βΒ broken, vindictive β send poor men to die.
This.
βThe children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.β
James Baldwin
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to

Once again, Tom brings us the human reality of what's happening in the US, and places it front and centre.
Feel the burn!
Knocking it out of the park, again and again. While the mainstream media obsess over gotcha questions and Reformβs endless lies the Greenβs movement is only growing stronger.
If youβre sick of the status quo, there really is only one answer.

Progressives in Gorton and Denton were being "told how to vote", says Matt Goodwin, describing a practice more commonly referred to as "election campaigning" in an interview given shortly after he was soundly beaten by said progressives.

The Greens absolutely smashed it not even close.
The only two horse race was for 3rd place and Labour lost.

Incredible operation going on up there.
Just remember today get out there and vote for greens

We need to make this happen
VOTE for change
VOTE for a brighter more honest future for you your family friends neighbours and people you don't even know yet .
If Labour followed its own logic, it would now step aside and let the Greens walk home in this crucial by-election. It is hard to imagine how Starmer and co could have made a bigger fist of this - and of everything.
My column.

*applause*
Fond memories of working at NTL, woman rang up screaming at me. Her husband in background shouts at her, βdonβt talk to them like that. Theyβre on fuck allβ
Then he takes phone off her, and gives me a line which I have used myself since
βDo you have a manager you dislike intensely I can speak to?β
