I’m Stieven and I draw prehistoric stuff.

(And dinosaurs (which I’ve always loved) seemed like an ideal subject for practising that.)

It kinda backfired in the end :)

At the time I was trying to figure out a style/way of working that was a bit different than what I was doing all the time… I wanted something looser, quicker, something that did not require to much thinking or prohibited me in some way from focusing to much on details, perspective and so on…

But for these weirdo’s I was wondering if there was (closeish) modern approximation.

Question for the paleoartists:
What do you use as reference material for animals like opabinia, anomalocaris and other weirdos? Besides fossils and other people’s interpretations I mean.

They’re pretty hard to wrap my head around.
