War crimes daily committed by Netanyahu and the IDF. This is not catastrophe or tragedy like an earthquake or a tsunami. This is deliberate. Targeting children so that they won’t grow up to produce more children. There’s a word for that.

"15,600+ children’s names. [For] the first 27 pages the age is listed as 0 — children under 1 year old"

Every last one someone's precious daughter or son.

The statistical face of the mass extermination of innocents in our time.

This is an advert for a runaway slave that James Hoban placed in a Charleston newspaper (1789). "Peter" must have been captured for he appears in the list of Hoban's slaves that worked on building the White House in 1792.

This is an advert for a runaway slave that James Hoban placed in a Charleston newspaper (1789). "Peter" must have been captured for he appears in the list of Hoban's slaves that worked on building the White House in 1792.

Remarks by Taoiseach Micheál Martin at White House Shamrock Ceremony: "Irish labourers came to help build the new Republic, the beacon on the hill. They even built this beautiful White House."

Runaway slave advert placed by slave-owning Irish immigrant and architect of the White House, James Hoban:

This morning’s mood (it’s not Monday)…

“I try to be good but sometimes a person just has to break out and act like the wild and springy thing one used to be. It's impossible not to remember wild and want it back.”

Anyone for Ennis?

This Saturday morning, throw your homework on to the fire and come listen to @neilhegarty.bsky.social and I talk about Ghost Mountain at the Ennis Book Club Festival.

Had a great time in Ennis last year – delighted to be in back.

This is why Rubio was trying to sink into the couch while everyone bullied Zelenskyy.

Just watched the news. The fact that the BBCs Chris Mason was shouting to Zelenskyy "Are You going to apologise to President Trump?" is very illustrating. It's clear that Zelenskyy isn't the one who needs to apologise, Mason is siding with a Tyrant.

If you're a UK journalist and you ask President Zelensky if he will apologise to Trump you deserve to be vilified by all and sundry for your craven behaviour.

Screenshot from the UK Guardian website coverage of the Oscars 2025 which says: "And with that the whispered politicism of the night becomes a roar. Basel Adra, Rachel Szor, Hamdan Ballal and Yuval Abraham accept the award and ask the world to stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. They note that Israelis and Palestinians made the film together. And they criticize America for blocking the path to peace. This is a proper, undeniable moment."

I have gone Swiftie on the Pope’s demise because JD Dunce will further twist the faith to spray hate & hostility will blast off if Papa F bounces & the fruitcake faction are unchecked.
“medical staff said it was the Pope himself who had ordered daily updates.”

The very first literary festival I ever appeared at was in Ennis with John Boyne and the lovely Marian Keyes who was as kind and welcoming then to a complete unknown as she is to everyone.

Definitely go if you can :)
