I say we send ICE over to Iran to fight that war. Then... they'd actually be useful.

'AK 1' ~ Sapele wood.
'AK 2' ~ Quilted Sapele and Ebony
These two spoons were based on sculptures by Anna Korver (with permission). Love her work!
And these are actually for use in the kitchen.

A couple of spoons carved from Ambrosia Maple.
'Ambrosia' is not a distinct specie of Maple... it is a discoloration caused by fungi which are carried by Ambrosia beetles as they bore into the wood.

A couple of 'Ann Teak' wooden spoons with wire inlay.

'Ant Eater' ~ Wooden spoon carved in Ebony sapwood with Bloodwood tongue and inlaid resin ants.
Huckabee can still sleep at night though because he has Relaxium.
I keep telling folk that the primary goal for A.I. development is for 'control' of the masses. What we see and are exposed to... will no longer be determined by the user. In fact.. it has already begun. My social media feeds already show more pushed post than the posts I subscribe to or follow.

Inspired by a Cameroon ceremonial elephant mask.

'Aubergine' ~ Wooden spoon carved in Basswood, with pigments.
I encountered the word 'aubergine' for the first time in reference to an Alice Walker novel.
Come to find out... that's what the folk on the other side of the pond call an eggplant.

'Balancing Act' ~ Wooden spoon carved in Bloodwood with figured Maple base.
When set on a surface this spoon would roll over on its side so I fashioned a base for it.
Thanks!
Thank you Bob. I'm hoping to set up shop again later this year.... if the planets align and the creek don't rise.
Thanks! I actually did do a vine snake at one time.

'Banded Snake' ~ Wooden spoon carved in York Gum Burl with Bloodwood bands and Ebony spacers.
The 'banding' wasn't intended when I began carving this snake spoon. I somehow managed to snap the thing in two and I figured this was a good way to salvage the project.
I did make some decidedly left-handed spoons though, just not with an 'eye'. The wood always dictated which was which.

'BeSpoked' ~ A wooden spoon carved from an old cart wheel spoke that a friend brought me from France. I believe the wood is some type of Acacia wood.
The wedge that helped to hold the spoke in place is featured in the spoon bowl.

A couple of spoons where a knot in the wood was used as an 'eye'.
The first one is Australian Silky Oak and the second is Surinam Cherry (which really isn't a cherry at all).
Thanks! I might revisit the 'birch bark' aspect of it one of these days.

'Ebony with Birch Bark' ~ The handle of this spoon looks like 'cork' but it is actually pieces of Birch bark laminated together with a metal rod drilled through for strength. Not my favorite design... but the tactile quality of this experiment was superb.

'She Loves Me' ~ Cedar with sapwood.
'Home and Heart' ~ Maple with Bloodwood.
Thanks much !

These spoons were carved from seed pods from an Australian tree/shrub. Although most of the pods are wood-hard there are also areas that are covered with a velvety soft fuzzy material that feels sort of like a horse's muzzle.
