Our first lambs of 2025. Nice strong set of twins, born in the field overnight. The twin and triplet bearing ewes are in and the weather is... perfect! #lambing

Just me and my dog....in the fog.
It was quite well made but they didn't put any pilot holes where the roof hinges attach so I had to guess. It all seems pretty stable though. I haven't screwed in the floor just in case I want to use it as a giant cloche straight over the soil for outdoor tomatoes.
"This could go very well, or not", I thought to myself as disappeared into my stable out of the chilly wind just like Caratacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
One hour later...

Yesterday I shared the rose embroidered blue point Siamese cat I was working on, and shortly after, I got an order for a chocolate point with Forget me not embroidery. Yesterday it snowed, but today it's much brighter, so it's nice to be stitching some spring flowers ๐
Thank you! I didn't spot the missing space. Here it is again just to prove I can do it right ๐ sheepinstitches.etsy.com/listing/5042...
If someone can tell me how to do that I'll do it!๐
Just finished making an embroidered #bluepointsiamese cat ornament. Roses make me think of summer, but I've got a "Spring" version with blue Forget-me-nots on too and I'm always open to custom orders. You can find both of them in my Etsy shop here โก๏ธhttps://sheepinstitches.etsy.com/listing/504290418
We have an area on the farm with a big drift of wild narcissus, and each year, I cut just 5 stems to bring into the house. This year I've added some hazel twigs. You may know the catkins which carry the yellow dusty pollen, but can you spot the little red female flowers?

Got sidetracked doing some family sheepdog training with Torrin and his sister Tess this morning so not much progress on yesterday's project, but here's what I did last night. I'm now washing some lovely brown/black wool to make their fleeces with so I can finish them later.
A beautiful blue sky, a touch of frost and some Starlings perching on a characterful old Ash tree that we had to Pollard a few years ago when part of the crown split off. It survived both that and Ash dieback disease and continues to be one of my favourite trees on our farm.
Struggling to fit social media around farm/craft/sheepdog training, & now it's the run up to lambing, but I'm going to make an effort to reconnect with all you lovely people again! Just finished a couple of orders & now I'm working on a #newbabygift commission with a definite sheep theme.More later!
Tuesday 9th, evening. I promise, no spoilers ๐
Sisters in law are booking tickets!!!! Just been hearing about it on Radio 4 evening news. Hugely exciting.
That's a relief ๐
There is every chance that you're sick of the sight of Torrin already, but just in case you aren't...๐
On my rounds with Torrin this morning. An amazing sun burning through the fog, my bestest pupper getting to grips with being a farm dog, my last Badger Face Welsh Mountain ewe (8yrs old) and daughter and a rather extraordinary cloud rainbow.
Lovely to see how far my sheep travel. Merry Christmas!
Wishing all my friends here a very merry Christmas and a peaceful 2024. Thank you for your custom, conversation and enthusiasm for my work in crafting and farming over the last year. It is hugely appreciated! Here is the @sheepinstitches Christmas tree with Nina in her top spot.
New design available in my shop for delivery after Christmas. Can be personalized with a name hand-embroidered on the back.

Thank you very much. That's so kind of you ๐
This morning I'm working on a #petportrait commission. The subject is a #livestockguardiandog which is a type I've never made before. I'll definitely be adding this one to the range!
Just finished a #Torwen type badger face welsh mountain sheep. We've got the Torddu type with the reverse markings of tan body, black belly and striped face. Both variations are available in my shop here โก๏ธ sheepinstitches.etsy.com/listing/5535...
Thank you. It takes time but it's worth the effort ๐
I can't tell you how hard it is on the fingers blending the wool for this #wheaten #wirehaireddachshund . It's a mixture of 4 different shades in varying proportions. I'm pleased with the effect though.
Oh brilliant! Thanks ๐
I'll be bereft when it disappears from iPlayer!
A step up in size from yesterday's #keeshond. Today, it's a blue merle #roughcollie . And we are talking serious fur!
I can watch it over and over until I think I know every word and still find some new line of genius I'd missed several times before.
Flat, felt dog shape covered with needlefelted wool in black, grey and apricot shades, attached to look like realistic fur. The mouth is open showing a pink tongue and white teeth.
It's been (yet another of) one of those days where it was gone noon before I managed to make a start on any crafting. This is a #keeshond #Spitz type dog. Very fluffy and lots of hands blending of wool to get the right colours. And now I need to stitch it together and fill it.
