If I were giving a commencement speech it would just be:
"The ability to attract funding and the ability to manage a business are two totally separate things that rarely occur in the same person. Good luck!"

π¨ Thursdayβs elections prove it: First Past the Post is broken. 5 parties, chaotic results, millions left unrepresented. We need Proportional Representation β NOW.

The UK is going to have to make a choice.
Do we stand with Ukraine and Europe?
Or are we with Trump's America and Putin's Russia?
That's what it comes down to.
We must choose Europe.
I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.

El Capitan displays a massive American flag upside downβthe traditional signal of distress or extreme emergency.
This is one of the most constructive advice I've read lately about how to navigate the current shit storm.

π₯ Iβve just signed the petition calling for a βNational Commission on Electoral Reformβ - Will YOU sign too? actionstorm.org/petitions/nc...
Thank you--that means a lot!
Just did a quick check because I was curious myself-though I live here. Surprised to find out you don't need to live here at all: www.perplexity.ai/search/do-i-...
Registered addresses are easy as legit companies provide them for about 40 GBP a year.
Yup. I think the timeline is flexible. The point I was trying to emphasise is make it near-term and get on with it.
The UK is dead easy. You can register a company online for about Β£15 (haven't done it for a few years). You may need a UK address for one director. Tax is 19% though...
I'm lucky to be self-employed so meetings are not a problem!
What I love about this is the simple idea that you can get something substantial done in a short time horizon--if you just start.
I see too many people procrastinate their dreams by overthinking and underdoing.
Basecamp manages projects in 6-weeks cycles.
"We believe thereβs a great six week version of nearly everything. Weβve come to discover that nearly everything important can be done in six weeks or less. And done well".
What's a 6 week version of something you want to build?
Start!

Intelligence isn't about having all the answers. It's about knowing how to find them. For founders, this means developing three things:
- Pattern Recognition
- Systematic Discovery
- Value Sensing:

I usually donβt do politics here. But this message from my daughter, whoβs a paediatrician in Uganda, brings home the real consequences of Americaβs descent into early β30s isolationism-- and perhaps worse. Imbeciles stroke their egos in DC, and babies in Africa die.
Over 21 million votes cast in 2024 were ignored or wasted. After the most disproportionate election ever, there is a crucial parliamentary debate on 30th Jan on changing the voting system. Write to demand your MP attend and support fair votes: actionnetwork.org/letters/pr-d...
Thatβs amazingly generous! Thanks!
Substack is my favourite, best signal to noise. Like it here but only starting to turn up.
LinkedIn in is unfortunately necessary because Iβm in the middle of a launch campaign and thatβs where a lot of my target customers are.
Just listened to the podcast. Very intrigued. I use gmail, pay for Superhuman and SaneBox. Which ones do you think it will replace?
Loyal Every.to subscriber due to @lexpro.bsky.social, sitting at 2700 on the wait list. But swear I was further up a week ago. Looking forward t checking it out.
One of my earliest bosses--an excellent salesman used to say:
"Never discuss price, before you're convinced that the customer understands the value of what you're offering">
For years, I've been recommending Rob Fitzpatrick's "The Mom Test" as one of the 5 essential books for startup founders. It's still an essential read, but @mjwhansen.com's book is the next step--a master class!

Iβm in Europe and itβs late. But Iβll answer that tomorrow. Even if it wasnβt me that you were asking.
Thanks for passing this on. Feels like thereβs a tribe of us wanting to move the ocean liner.

Donβt. I make a cup of coffee and give myself an hour to follow my curiosity, uninterrupted, without expectation.
Usually the best hour of the day and often surprisingly creative and productive.
Iβm looking for 10 #indiehackers that wants to be added to social lists and get promoted on SocialListHub.com (first come, first serve)
