Excerpt from NTA report on Cork.
Cork city is moving toward a healthier, cleaner and more connected future. Our goal is ambitious but achievable: 50% of all journeys in Cork City by 2030 to be made by walking, cycling or public transport. Letβs keep building a city where sustainable travel is the easy choice.

The latest NTA report for the Cork Metropolitan Area shows 83% support reducing speed limits to 30km/h in built-up areas.
I put forward a motion in January calling for the most ambitious possible 30km/h speed zones across Cork City.
Safer streets. Safer children. Strong public backing.

59% support School Streets β yet we have zero schemes locally. Iβve begun engaging stakeholders about introducing a School Street at St Lukeβs School, Douglas.
Safer school runs. Calmer streets. Healthier communities. The support is there. We need to make it happen.
Active travel is booming in Cork! Walking, wheeling and cycling take up to 82,000 cars off our roads every day, reducing congestion and emissions while boosting health and wellbeing. Support for more investment in safer, connected streets is growing across our city! π΄

I understand the housing crisis and the urgent need for more homes. I fully support and encourage housing delivery in Cork. But Bessboro is a delicate and very sensitive issue. Join us this Sunday at 1pm at the gates of Bessboro. Come and show your support.
Proud to support Cllr Oliver Moranβs motion for a Housing (Emergency Powers) Act. As I said today: no parent should have to share a single room with their teenage son or daughter, yet this is happening in IPAS centres in Cork.
Housing is an emergency. Letβs act like it.
Thanks Fiona!

I am at the Green Party Convention in Kilkenny with my fellow Cork Greens!
Honoured to see former President of Ireland Dr Mary McAleese speak last night at the βBuilding Bridgesβ event hosted by the UCC Government & Politics Society. Fantastic turnout β and great to meet UCC President John OβHalloran.
Proud also to stand in solidarity yesterday, like my colleague, HonorΓ© Kamegni, with overstretched teachers, parents and children who deserve better.
The government have U-turned for now and deny their cuts to special needs assistants were "never signed off on" β after defending it all last week.
Cllr Kamegni with Dr McAleese.
I was delighted to meet with the exceptional, powerful, and well-respected former president, Dr Mary McAleese, in UCC, Cork yesterday. Thank you Dr. McAleese for your support and encouragement regarding the online abuses that I received on Facebook recently. You are a legend!
I am in City Hall to support our women during the Lady Mayoress International Women's Day celebration. Great to share in this celebration of womenβs voices, achievements, and support networks across our city.
βWith knowledge we thrive, with support we rise.β

Powerful and dignified protest outside Cork City Hall yesterday in defence of our SNAs. The Green Party stands with children, parents, and school communities demanding certainty. A pause is not enough. Proud to stand alongside my colleague Cllr Oliver Moran in support.
I was proud to stand this evening in solidarity with families, their children, Special Needs Assistants & educators, at Cork City Hall to protest the Government's handling of the SNA Scheme.
They must bring in long-term structural reform instead of this chaos that brings uncertainty to so many.

Looking forward to attending the International Womenβs Day Event this Friday at Millennium Hall, Cork City Hall. I am grateful to the Lady Mayoress, Karen Brennan, for hosting and for bringing together so many inspiring organisations under the theme: βWith knowledge we thrive, with support we rise.β
Iβve asked the Chief Executive to begin public consultation on the proposed pedestrianisation of Dauntβs Square under the Luas Cork Emerging Preferred Route.
Letβs hear from residents, businesses & commuters, and make any changes well before 2029. Letβs plan Cork together.
Cllr Kamegni with GardaΓ last night.
Delighted to attend the Ballinlough Garda Safety Forum yesterday. I raised safety concerns about trucks using South View Terrace, called for stronger e-scooter enforcement, and highlighted the 237 illegal parking fines around the stadiums. Thanks to all who attended β great turnout.
Cork deserves a bus service that actually works for Cork. This month, I brought a motion to Council calling for the creation of βCork Busβ, a city-run public service, accountable to the people of Cork, with the autonomy to deliver reliable, frequent services and competitive driver pay.
Thanks to Damien Streenan from Cork's 96FM for talking to me yesterday where I discussed the need for a directly elected Mayor in Cork city.
Douglas Village deserves clean air and a quieter environment.
Iβve brought a motion asking Cork City Council to engage with TII to install full-length barriers along the South Ring Road through Douglas β protecting residents from noise and pollution. Healthier communities matter.
Thanks to Damien Streenan from Cork's 96FM for talking to me yesterday about the changes I would like to see at Daunt Square.
I have asked the Chief Executive to hold a consultation with the public about the pedestrianisation of Dauntβs Square. I want this to happen as soon as possible.
Dereliction blights Corkβs streets & wastes homes that could house families. Thatβs why I brought a motion to Cork City Council last December that called for the publishing of our derelict sites register in GIS map format online. This move by the Govt is welcome but still far short of what we need.
Heavy goods vehicles mounting the kerb on Southview Terrace at Ballinlough Rd are damaging footpaths and creating real safety risks for residents. I put forward a motion at Cork City Council this month to address this urgently.
Safety first for our community!
β»οΈ Iβm calling on Cork City Council to follow other local authorities and install Re-turn cupholder-style surrounds on public bins across our city.
Iβll also be writing to shopping centres throughout Cork to invite them to do the same.
Small idea. Big impact.

My monthly clinic this Saturday, February 21st, is cancelled.
My apologies for any inconvenience.
My next clinic at Mahon Community Centre will be on Saturday, March 21st, from 10am to 12 noon.
Thank you!
I want to thank Elaine Murphy for her brilliant report in 'The Cork' on this vital change in our beautiful city and surroundings. I was delighted to support Cork City Councilβs proposal to introduce 30km/h as the default speed limit in built-up areas.
Echo front page story.
This kind of attack in Rochestown, if caused by anyone, is not acceptable. I would like to send my encouragement to the family. Well done to the Gardai as usual. Any criminals responsible for this horrible action should face the law.
Submisson on speed limits.
Today is the last chance to have your say on speed limits in Cork City. Iβve made my submission supporting a default 30km/h in built-up areas to save lives and make our streets safer for everyone. Please take a moment to make your submission today before 5pm.
