#FaveLineFriday A bit of conversation from a WIP I started just today. Thistledown is a particularly quippy character.

I feel like you either have to make it really visceral by using good solid knowledge, or you need to leave it up to interpretation. That way, it becomes the scariest thing to each individual person. What is left unsaid can be powerful for a good writer.
The problem with when they try to describe a scary monster in a story is that a lot of authors aren't particularly educated about wildlife taxonomy so they'll try to describe imaginary monstrous biology as if it's unimaginable
"It's Indescribable!" - Goes on to clumsily describe it for two paragraphs, taking away all chance that the thing being described is remotely scary any more.
Hrm. I liked Firefly at the time, but people need to learn how to let things go. Certain shows are products of their era. I think we've moved beyond the need for Whedon. For so many reasons.
Small drawings on post it notes of Glinda, Two Time (they are a game character I guess???), and Pomni.
I draw pics every day for my kid, usually memes but sometimes characters, to put in his lunch box. His friends asked if I could draw some for them too, soโฆ favorite characters for them. โค๏ธ
You ever have a day where you are like wow I am gonna get a lot done and then it's like haha nah your depression cycle has rolled back around. Enjoy the scrambled brains. โจ
I haven't read that yet and I should. It's very much my jam. Reincarnation stories are my faveeee ๐
Sketch of a car mechanic.
Choosing to stay home is not the problem. I stayed home with my kid when he was little. Enjoying cooking for my family doesn't have a moral weight to it. It's when you have the choice taken away that it's a problem. No one, regardless of gender, should have any role forced upon them.
What they call spiritual warfare is actually just women having control of their own bodies. Or working outside of the house. Or voting. Or having any voice at all. They want women (and those they see as women) to be at home. Having babies. Cooking. Cleaning. Not getting involved. Out of the way.
That RFK thing about how eating together and cooking is sacred is just a warm up for pushing some good ol' fashion Cult of Domesticity. I mean we've been heading there with all of the tradwife crap, but having a little talky talk about it like this doesn't bode well for uh... women's rights.
Right? I only follow people whose work captures my interest. I know there's a lot of problems within creative circles of doing this follow-for-follow situation which makes everyone look popular but then you have no REAL connections. And that's what can make good work great.
I'm pretty sure that a popular TV show stole a very specific plot arc I came up with for a fanfic I wrote during a time when it was common knowledge that people who worked on the show were reading fics. ๐
Thatโs cool as heck!
Marmalade the orange cat all tucked into a blue and red and white and pink quilt. Shes looking dead ahead
Marma eyes mostly closed chillin in the quilt like an absolute blankethound. Blanket heads know

Heimdall is true to his namesake - always watching.
I'm the one who cooks in my family - both bc I like doing it but also bc I have MANY autistic food hang-ups (how ingredients are cut, all fat removed, etc). It's definitely a whole job to plan well balanced tasty meals every week that aren't super repetitive. I -am- the personal chef lol ๐ฉโ๐ณ
Brรถther may I have some รถats?
Fanart of Marin from Link's Awakening. She is sitting on a Game Boy, bathing her legs in the green screen. There's a giant egg on top of a volcano in the background.
Here's a repost for the 40th anniversary of Zelda!

This is really good advice that I could stand to use as well. As somebody who struggles with depression and anxiety, my mood flux really screws with my ability to write sometimes and having shorter goals would be helpful. Way better than being crushed by one's own expectations lol
Have you read Beta Vulgaris by Margie Sarsfield? I came across that book randomly on Libby and I was like hell yeah, sounds good. It really rides that line of "what?" versus "...what???" - Highly recommend.
My daughter: in the TLC song โNo Scrubs,โ what do they mean by โscrubโ?
Me: Honey this is the one and only pop song in history that opens up with a dictionary and thesaurus entry.
I want to start doing watches again, but people's tastes are so insular that I dont want to have a standing stock.
I would rather make things to order.
Does anyone know how to set up a store front for something that is make to order stuff?
lmao right? There's a lot of medical related jobs that are good solid jobs but the certs for them are so extravagant, it's nuts. On top of the test cert cost (and class cost), you spent a few hundred on new coding books every year and recertification. The worst.
The annoying thing is that I only missed passing the CCS by four points bc I ran out of time on the chart coding part at the end. Folks say it usually takes a few tries to pass it. But the test cost 500 bucks to take each time. That's what we call gatekeeping to keep out the poors. โจ
Taking a timed practice test for my CCA exam today. Timing is what really screwed me on the CCS, so hopefully I will have a better sense of it this time. Four hours goes a lot faster than you'd think even with a multiple choice test. I just gotta know I can pass this thing this time around.
All I am asking is that people DO THEIR JOBS WITH THEIR OWN BRAINS please this nonsense isn't sustainable just LEARN A THING and then perhaps DO THE THING because golly gosh it is YOUR FUCKIN JOB jfc man people are just throwing their brains in the goddamn garbage. ๐ง ๐๏ธ
