In general, using hard pauses is rude. When the user clicks to advance the game, it's an explicit request - the user wishes the game to advance. To override that request is to assume you understand what the player wants more than the player does. tl;dr - Don't use renpy.pause with hard=True.

This bit of the renpy doc is funny cause it's a generally good philosophical thing to express to a designer, especially in VN... But as a like, general game designer I'm like "well I mean yeah *obviously* I know what they want more than they do, at least statistically :-)"
