(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa)

BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history.
REGINALD: Wow! What's it do?

BEARTATO: It... what?
REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do?

(Beartato thinks.)

BEARTATO: I don't know.

REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do?

EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this!

(The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet)
MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk!

(Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)

The reaction of seemingly 90+% of people, including and especially people who loved the show 20 years ago:

Oh right, I actually did forget that. I never got around to reading it either.

But then I'm not generally interested in comic book continuations of shows anyway. None of the ones I've read were really all that great.

It's just too late. I said if this was announced 20 years ago then maybe I'd be excited, hell if it was even 15 or 10 years ago maybe even then. But now? I just don't see the point.

It doesn't help that this is a tainted name, in multiple ways.

Wait but... hang on, Sandman is a GOOD guy in the comics. I have to assume it's a totally unrelated character

Most of what I remember is people all over the world whining about the ending. They never stopped. People STILL complain about the ending to this day. Rarely have I heard defenses for it.

I largely agree, but also I feel that the show itself wasn't good until season 3 either. Before that it ranged from okay to truly awful imo. Year of Hell 2.0 gave the show some real direction, and season 4 felt like the series it was supposed to be from the start.

20 years ago I would have been excited. Back when I didn't know better. Now we all do. So I just don't care or want this.

PoseMyArt is a really great tool for if you're struggling with perspective or posing.

Below is a scene I drew for one of my videos, with the original reference I put together next to the final shot! It was still a lot of work to make, but PMA was a huge help!

I'm talking about the narrative. The the writers should have done more IMO to have Archer be confronted with the fact he'd been a bad captain, which he absolutely had been so many times. Especially in Dear Doctor and A Night in Sickbay.

I just don't think Braga or Berman noticed how bad he sucked.

I was misremembering it a little from what Memory Alpha says. Evidently it had been translated a little differently by their team

Unfortunately, I don't think he ever got there. Four years in and he was making the same bad decisions and the show rarely took him to task for his bad calls.

That being said, it is ridiculous that Paris, the ship's pilot and "guy who gets assigned to every damn job no matter what" is the one who also gets the nurse job. During combat, the most likely time he'd be needed in sickbay, he's kinda busy piloting the ship.

But indeed, at least there was Kes!

A Night In Sickbay really solidified my view of Archer. Unhinged, petty, bullying, a terrible "diplomat", and an all-around incompetent fool who should never have been put in charge of Starfleet's flagship.

I honestly don't get how people can watch him and come away thinking he's a great captain.

Funny thing about this.

Most non-English language versions of the title are either The Tholian Web or The Spider's Web. Both cool, simple titles, and both relate to this iconic image.

Not so for Japan. They called it "The Peril of Captain Kirk! Who Was Trapped In Different-Dimension Space!"
