My hope is that at least it gives people some time to come up with an alternative that can ingest Flash files in a more graceful way. I know Harmony has some import scripts, but they are not very good. It'd be a GREAT time for someone to make a Flash clone that can read that mess.

I keep seeing the “reminder don’t use Adobe here are the alternatives” image going around and folks, the problem is not just that Adobe sucks, the problem is they’re blocking legal access to decades of art files utilized by individuals and entire teams

swapping programs is like swapping from oil paint to watercolor.... and if you have a full supply of oils, a team who specializes in oils, and a client that is expecting oil paintings in a few months..

we cant just be reprogrammed! it takes time to make new workflows, muscle memory and nuances

Also everyone suggesting software like Procreate Dreams, Toonsquid, or Calipeg… These are iPad only. There are extreme limitations to what they can do, especially when u consider that Flash is desktop software with lots of support.

For those suggesting piracy, that’s not the point. Grow up.

The one downfall of ALL of these ipad based softwares is that none of them work in vector…. which, is really the kicker and the thing that makes none of them professionally viable. But as far as usability, I really love Calipeg. Built by animators for animators for sure.

Dreams aint anywhere NEAR a competent software even with its more recent updates. Calipeg is a much better ipad based animation software (and exports to Harmony). Toonsquid is often recommended too tho ive never personally worked in it.

People love to hate Animate, but it's capable of doing things faster and cheaper than just about any other software out there.

Harmony is a much more powerful program, but for basic tasks you use a hammer, and Animate was that hammer. As we know, Adobe hates its customers.

Not selling the rights is whats insane to me. Like if you dont want to maintain it any longer (lets be real theyve never properly maintained it), pass the torch to someone else who will?? Get some money for your trouble and let someone who cares more do something real with it.

They're afraid of becoming irrelevant and trying to keep up with new technology except they've picked the wrong thing.

This is extremely tragic but I feel the need to add that the San Gabriel Mountains' scenic roads are SO outrageously dangerous. You have to be extremely careful driving up them. The cliffs are so steep, and they're not that well guarded. Please don't make the same mistakes if you're ever up there :(

It’s wild because I definitely think Harmony 25 is an absolute winner - it introduced some features that I’m so excited about I’m sad my workplace isn’t using it yet. But they did say p explicitly that once you move into 25 files have to stay there… which… isn’t great, yeah.
