Guess I should repost this since so many others did. How is it that everyone I know, knows how to hold off berry rot/mold, and so many of you don’t?
I’m Native & grew up poor. The Grandmas & Aunties know ALL the tricks when it comes to berries—growing, picking, preserving and using in all kinds of ways. Blueberries in wild game (deer, elk, rabbit )and bean soup (stock based, no tomatoes) is Incredible. Put them in the last hour of slow cooking.
Wash in vinegar water (5:1 water to vinegar) and let dry on a towel. Wash the container, too, This works for all berries, grapes, cherries. Kills mold and bacteria that hastens rot. I’ve had strawberries last 10 days, especially if you keep them separated (not in the same drawer) as other produce.

Minneapolis/St. Paul. I once waited in the pouring rain for the bus because the wild turkeys had taken over the shelter. They also clearly understand stoplights and will wait for the light to change to cross busy streets. I’ve been hoping for video of them battling some 🧊agents.

3/3 Most of their communications are just calls for support. Is this activism grift or legitimate work? It reminds me of some of the more sketchy groups that latched on to the Line 3 protests and Standing Rock before that. I hope I’m wrong. But are there elders supporting this group? Who? #iceOut
2/3 Sure the photos look cool and this calls attention to the horrific history of that place. But I haven’t heard them talk about much beyond current detentions (and not very clearly). Nothing about Hegseth’s plan to turn that site into a military base again.
I’m conflicted about the tipi encampment near the Whipple. I haven‘t seen elders speaking —critical for any group claiming to be in ceremony. I see a lot of calls for money & resources when we are stretched super thin keeping folks housed & fed while they’re in hiding . 1/3
