oh you're getting these emails too!
Lunar eclipse early today as moon set over Halifax
If you missed this morning's lunar eclipse, the next one is the night of August 27! I think the timing is nicer, too: partial phase begins about 11:30pm ADT and ends about 2:50am ADT. (I prefer late nights to early mornings!)
beauty!
Do you have clear skies tonight? Let us know if the moon looks the wrong way up or lopsided? Itβs a bit harder to compare with the full moon unless you can see the darker regions on its surface but have a look regardless!
(Assuming that youβre temporarily at a v different latitude than Hfx)
Incredible!!!
It was stunning!
My full time job: moon sharer
I have been sitting in this 24th storey office for about 10 minutes looking for the moon because I KNEW it was rising and just needed to spot it
The GASP I let out!! β!!!!! There it is!β

FULL MOON JUST ROSE OVER DARTMOUTH, CAN YOU SEE IT??!!!
Permanently on DST!!!! Love to see it
Lunar eclipse at moonset ~6:00-6:50 am Tues March 3rd here in Halifax (and anywhere in Maritimes). Sky looking favorable here. Situate yourself at a high point to possibly see it. Moon should turn orange/red especially in the upper left portion. timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/c...
Oh my god, I am happy to see this. I cannot tell you the number of hours(!!!) I have sat on a bus between the bridge terminal and the bridge stuck in endless car traffic. I really, really hope this properly relieves congestion for transit at that intersection.
Reminder:
Lunar eclipses happen over *hours* and are entirely safe to look at with just our eyeballs (unlike anything to do with the sun... no bare eyeballs at the sun, please). We don't need telescopes or binoculars to view the moon, and it'll probably make for some cool pics.
Anyway! Enjoy the moon! (3/3)
For us in Halifax, this eclipse is happening riiiiiight before sunrise, so the moon will be very low in the sky towards the west when the eclipse starts at 5:50am Atlantic time.
If you're up anyway, have a look! If you're elsewhere in N. America, the timing will work better! (2/3)
There's a lunar eclipse tonight (better description: right before sunrise tomorrow morning!). This is where the moon goes into the Earth's shadow so the moon becomes a red-orange colour when under that shadow. Visible all across north america, if you've got clear skies (1/3)
Photo of the ceiling of the atrium at SMU Halifax with the bright moon seen through the glass
Zoomed in view to see moon more clearly
Nearly Sam as first photo but through the window the moon is in the bottom left corner and the tiny tiny dot in the top right corner of the window is Jupiter
Moonβs up, can you see it? The very bright spot near the moon is Jupiter. Photos taken through the Atrium glass ceiling windows as Iβm leaving work just now.

This sounds like orgs that run/lead groups of folks traveling. My aunt & uncle do this like twice a year (as participants, not leaders). They travel with one specific leader in a group in a variety of destinations, and that leader deals with the mess of flights etc but also gets to travel.
everything is increasingly intolerable all the time.
I think (hope) youβre being sarcastic but I canβt actually tell and thatβs a comment on how great the NS budget is!!!
I did not learn the extent until looking at Bluesky after work π«£
Iβve been sitting on a bus at the corner of Barrington St and Spring Garden Rd for >10 minutes. At one corner! Waiting for space on the other side of the intersection!
Weβve gotta get people out of single occupancy cars and into other modes of transportation. Thisβ¦ this doesnβt work. π
re: NS budget specifically noting $11 million decrease in funding to SMU π«
itβs bleak
this is incredible
