The one consistent organising principle of this Trump presidency is its relentless support for fossil fuels. For journalists, this means that without proper energy literacy they can no longer cover politics. Reading general news coverage that is energy-illiterate has become almost useless.
To be clear, the centre ground on net zero is that the public are broadly supportive - even if there is some conditionality to that support.
The idea that net zero is a source of significant electoral discomfort for Labour is a zombie political fact.
100 days of the Trump admin isn't reason to celebrate for those who work in climate and sustainability.
But - is there a silver lining?
Climate terminology is impenetrable to most. Perhaps this is an opportunity to take a proper look at how we communicate:
