I thought I'd celebrate World Book Day by posing with my first three novels - from 95, 97 and 98 respectively. My trilogy in which i invented Queer Northern Magical Realism...! Hooray!
(Ctd) ….business of being a writer. I put myself out there for a long time - in a business where it’s not usual to be northern, working class and queer - and it’s an exhausting way to go about making a living by creating. Now I hope I’m building myself back up. Not sure what comes next!
The four months we’ve had our shop open are four months in which I’ve written basically nothing for publication. That’s the longest stretch in 36 years as a writer. I guess it’s a break that I was needing… but it’s also made me realise how heartbreakingly hard I’ve often found the (ctd…)
