I finally watched The Fabelmans, and, hot take incoming, it's very good! But it also illustrated to me, clear as crystal, what a dummy Tarantino is for his idiotic rant against Paul Dano. Again, hot take, Paul Dano is an excellent actor!
...wherein I argue that several ideas found on the early modern stage (most notably subjectivity of mind) conceptually prefigure Cartesian philosophy. Link to the pre-order: edinburghuniversitypress.com/book-cartesi...

Tom Ryan discusses how he is unapologetic about dismantling the time-honored teen sleuth mythology in his new book, 'We Had a Hunch'.
A man asked me last night what publishing needs to do for literary fiction to begin appealing to men again. I said, as nicely as I could, that, with over 2,000 books published every Tuesday, of which many would appeal to men, itβs not a publishing problem, itβs a men problem.
By your logic, individual members of a band should be nominated with their bands even after they have gone solo. For instance, all four members of the Beatles are in the RRHoF as solo artists, in addition to their being inducted as the Beatles.
It's not at all weird that it's the same people IMO. New Order came together after the suicide of Ian Curtis, the other members trying to move on (hence the name). Joy Division and New Order are very different bands.
I think it's really weird that Joy Division and New Order are nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one entry.
So trans people in Kansas are being told their driver's licenses are invalid, and the Trump admin is trying to make it so you need a driver's license to vote. Probably just a coincidence.

The thing I am trying to figure out about the Kid Rock/RFK Jr. video is, who is it for? Who is looking at this like, yes, this is something I am glad happened.

This is what authoritarians are never gonna understand: average, everyday citizens do not like watching paramilitary thugs brutalize children. All the vaporware memes in the world can't fix that for them
Happy almost Valentine's Day with a detail from an extraordinary survival of a pre-Reformation Scottish textile: The Fetternear Banner held by the NMS. The heart motif relates to the arms of Gavin Douglas (1474-1522) at the top of the banner, the scallop shell relates to the Graham family β€οΈπβ€οΈπβ€οΈ
In a world where Trump is actually innocent of everything Epstein-related his people would be investigating/arresting/charging powerful people implicated and making themselves the heroes of the story.
There need to be a new word that combines something being both scary and hilarious. "Hi-scare-ious"? (Currently referring to Gallup stopping their presidential polls, because Trump sucks so much.)

One problem with billionaires is that they're so rich they no longer have rational incentives. To someone like Bezos, the financial performance of WaPo is wholly irrelevant, and so the only "incentive" is to satisfy emotional urges, such as breaking something just to show he can.

Bilbo looking at his phone top on bottom is ChatGPT After all, why not? Why shouldn't I keep it? You're absolutely right β you found it, it's been with you a long while, and it's only natural to feel fond of something that's served you so well, especially when someone like Gandalf suddenly seems to want it for himself.
