No, it’s worse.

It’s a war without a political objective.

Plenty of wars have opened without a clear plan to reconcile desired ends with available means, we may be the first country to go to war without even a basic concept of victory.

War for the memes. War for the vibes. War for the Warriors.

When we are targeting anyone flying the flag of a foreign country, whether or not they present an immediate threat, that is an act of war whether we are calling it one or not.

You know what else they discuss in CGSOC? War crimes. Ethics. Jus ad AND en bello.

You know who didn’t attend CGSOC?

Today is our 14th birthday.

From making your dad lose his mind, to embarrassing members of Congress and the Presidential cabinet, we can't thank all of you enough for your inability to read past the headline.

We'd be nothing without our readers.

Here's to 14 more.

Simply batshit. The Kurds will follow their own interest while simultaneously playing the US for all the $ they can get (no judgement - it is what they’ve always done, and it is easy)

For years on my old blog I published the names of servicemembers who died in Iraq & Afghanistan. No other outlets were.

These are the first 4 Americans to die in the Iran War.
Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35
Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42
Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39
Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20

Longer convo to be had here, but seems we’ve bent so far backward in executive deference that we’ve defined ‘war’ out of existence.

over the 2010s we learned that the public was more than happy to ignore about two dozen KIA per year and I remember chatting with TM (not on bsky) that the only time it might make the news was if a soldier met a new way of dying.

I think this does qualify as an exceptional failure in civil-military relations. If asked to do something clearly within the purview of Article I authority, is there not an obligation to check with Congress first?

Given that being in such a predicament in the first place is a sign that things have gone terribly wrong, a wiser set of US military leaders who took their oaths to the Constitution seriously would have already developed a much stronger and more active relationship with Congress than what exists now

Writing an article under a pseudonym that parrots the preferences of those in power seemed baffling - like normally reserved for fearful dissidents … but this makes sense. Save the rag further embarrassment.

Trump appears ready to attack Iran as U.S. strike force takes shape Although the United States and ally Israel have a military advantage over Iranian forces, there are ways for Tehran to make any attack painful, officials said.

“Military operations look quick and easy — right until they are not,” said @jkdemp.bsky.social. “What we did in Venezuela was such a unique operation, and a one-off. And even that — I’m not sure it will turn out fine.”

Black-and-white photo of a group of uniformed soldiers standing outdoors in winter clothing and helmets, gathered around a small fire on the ground. Several hold stacks of papers and books, with loose pages visible as some are being dropped into the flames. The fire sits in front of a stone building entrance with round lamps on either side. A few onlookers stand behind the soldiers near the doorway. Snow or light-colored ground is visible underfoot.

On Feb. 19, 1942, German soldiers marched through Winnipeg.
The mayor, premier and Lt. Governor were arrested, and the city was renamed Himmlerstadt. Books were burned, and the German flag flew across the city.
This is the story of Winnipeg's If Day.

This is not a defense of war against Iran, which I've stated on multiple occasions would be illegal and counterproductive, but also possibly catastrophically successful if it topples the regime with no stabilization plan in place.

But we need to be clear-eyed about the balance of forces.

Intellectual and moral cowardice.

This is how you destroy the foundations of a professional military capable of serving the American people.

Meet the Hell Cats — a key to Democrats’ hopes of taking the House A Signal group chat has become a support system and a strategy hub for these Democratic women veterans running in high-stakes races.

I am proud to stand with my fellow Hell Cats today and every day in the fight for our democracy. We didn’t fight overseas for our country, our freedoms, and our values just to watch the freedoms of Americans be clawed back right here at home.
