Back around 1998 I hacked an mpeg encoder to compute a frequency weighted peak level for whatever it was fed then used that to set the level of music from my library being transcoded for icecast for me in my house and on the road. I ran this for months. Worked fine. It's not hard.

So, I was a child prodigy (not the rain man kind, the general purpose kind that starts writing when he's not yet two) and started piano at 4 and have had perfect pitch as long as I can remember.
AND it has been a semitone sharp since some time in my 50s.
