Really thrilled for @gingersnapkid.bsky.social and her dissertation submission!
I submitted my doctoral dissertation this morning! I canβt believe it!
A truly great 𧡠on the how you have to train to be a good writer and thinker just like an athlete has to train for competition.
Congratulations! What a great position!
Really pleased to announce I submitted my doctoral dissertation, βFemale Patronage and Authority: Position for the Purpose of Service in the Early Jesus Movementβ for a spring defense yesterday.
I would love a copy! This looks fantastic!
This is fantastic news.
Jewish epitaph from Rome, written in Greek
Does anyone have a Greek epigraphy reading list that they'd be willing to share? We have a grad student who is interested in complementing their work in Latin epigraphy, and while I've done some work on inscriptions, I am certainly not an epigrapher!
Image for visibility...
Iβd also recommend D. Clint Burnettβs Studying the New Testament through Inscriptions. While tailored forwards New Testament studies, Burnett does an excellent job of introducing the reader to Greek epigraphy and resources.
Itβs definitely on the more technical side, but should be good for a graduate student.
My go to source is B. H. McLeanβs An Introduction to Greek Epigraphy of the Hellenistic and Roman Periods from Alexander the Great down to the Reign of Constantine (323 B.C.βA.D. 337)
Always.
God, Slavery, and Early Christianity is out in the real world with @universitypress.cambridge.org!
I have some extra, so retweet this by the end of Oct. 19 if youβre interested in receiving a copy!

Oh this worked wonderfully! Thank you @hltn.bsky.social and @palaeofuturist.bsky.social!
Anyone know how to add these small square open brackets (highlighted) to a Word document on a Mac? Iβve tried everything I know and am at a loss.
Who knew when working with inscriptions one of the harder things would be adding diacritical marks? π€·πΌββοΈ
Inscription images are my favorite. So fun to actually see what weβre writing about!
Excited for Susanβs monograph to be out in the wild!
Love this graphic on understanding material culture.
Nooooo. Iβm so sorry Taylor.
As Iβm eyeball deep in inscription archives this morning, I canβt stop thinking about how AI is shoved down our throats everywhere I turn but it really isnβt equipped to do what researchers and historians do.
Ian, biggest congratulations!
Sheβs GORGEOUS
I do get the umpteenth time of reading a story being a little weary of it, but gosh. I canβt keep enough books to satiate my 1 year oldβs reading appetite. Little dude loves it so just encourages me to get creative with voices and such or rotate the books when Iβd like a break from a specific story.
My 1 year old really went, oh Mom has a writing deadline? Afternoon naps are for the birds.
Roman Historian friendsβwondering if you can help me out here on the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
Iβm researching Antonia the Younger and wondering what you consider the most primary discussions of her? Thinking along the lines of major monographs or pivotal sources on her.
This is such a fantastic and fun way to prep for an exam!
