An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.

Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.

This is pure cruelty.

Print guides are here! Our team is hard at work delivering guides across the county. This morning, we stopped by the Cook County Jail to deliver more than 5,000 copies. We're leading civic education workshops for voters at the jail this week.

Reps. Nydia Velázquez and Delia Ramirez led House progressives today in introducing the New Good Neighbor Act, urging Congress to formally bury the Monroe Doctrine and replace it with a policy rooted in sovereignty and regional partnership. The resolution rebukes the Trump administration’s illegal military operation in Venezuela, Trump’s claims over Venezuelan oil reserves, his pardon of former convicted drug trafficker Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, and continued unilateral sanctions, including the Cuba embargo and now blockade. Lawmakers argue those actions reflect a revived doctrine of domination that has fueled instability across the hemisphere.

Cosponsors include Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other progressive Democrats.

The resolution calls for:

1.State Dept. confirmation that the Monroe Doctrine is no longer U.S. policy.

2.Creation of a “New Good Neighbor” framework.

3.A new approach to economic development.

4.Ending unilateral sanctions, including the Cuba embargo.

5.Suspending aid after unconstitutional transfers of power.

🇨🇺 BREAKING | Cuba has warned international airlines that it will run out of jet fuel within 24 hours, citing intensified U.S. energy pressure, according to an official aviation notice seen by EFE. The shortage affects all of Cuba’s international airports from Feb. 10 to March 11, with Jet A1 fuel unavailable nationwide. Airlines may be forced to alter routes, add refueling stops abroad, or cut flights. The crisis threatens Cuba’s already struggling tourism sector and follows new U.S. measures targeting countries that supply oil to the island, after Washington cut off Venezuelan fuel exports.

And make no mistake, an oil blockade is going to kill people. I don't just mean that it will likely cause rioting which leads to people dying. I mean that a breakdown of basic infrastructure, including the transport of water much of which is still done by truck, will lead to civilian deaths

In late 2025, Cuba's main two sources of oil were Venezuela and Mexico, who combined still supplied far less than the island needed, leading to 20+ hour a day blackouts on most of the island

In less than a month Cuba has lost both. Unclear what reserves remain

People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

This is going to kill people, if implemented. Civilians, the poorest of the poor. The people who don't have the hard currency to bribe others or impose themselves on skyrocketing black market prices. Hospitals may have lights on, if they have solar panels, but how do you get staff there without bus?
