I’d be fine with spending-as-speech if we didn’t allow people (or corporations treated as people) to control such disproportionate amounts of our wealth. It is the empowering of so few by allowing such a disparity that is closer to the root of the problem.

With two parties the people are forced to make their compromises upfront. With many multiple parties, the parties make the compromises on behalf of the people when it comes time to form a government.
