i reverted back to two zener diodes rated to conduct at 2.4v, in opposite configuration, parallel. Sounds great. I want to give this tone more sloppiness, fuzz? "velcro"?? i added a pair of LEDs (white, pink) before the zeners, but that smoothed things out... booooo-ring.
