Didn't watch the super bowl, but I DID finish listening to a 2.5 hour podcast about the band American Football...
Best. Birthday. Ever!
Is it at least kinda correct to factor in ~$1.8 million in salary savings over the past two years when thinking about how this played out? Seems like getting a larger transfer would have absolutely required significantly more in salary + opportunity cost.
Just a reminder that Blue Scholars was all over this years ago!

NEW: ICE abducted a father in Shoreline in front of his young son. Here's a chilling, firsthand account from the man who drove his car away from the scene, the abducted man's packed lunch still warm in the passenger seat www.theburnerseattle.com/post/ice-abd...

Seattle "ethics" board FINED Katie Wilson for getting childcare help from her parents. But it was cool for Bruce Harrell to use city resources to campaign & they won't investigate his brazen coordination with his $$$ PAC.
Hypocritical, sexist, classist bullshit.

there is simply no other conclusion than that mayors must be rich
and THEN it's fine if they spend months of their terms flying first class to international junkets and use the mayor's office to campaign

Rendering of 16th Ave Southwest in White Center with bike lanes located in between street parking and vehicle travel lanes, and only paint used to separate the bike lanes
I'm sorry but this is not a good design for 16th in White Center
Is it better? Sure, but I still will never ride my bike here with paint being my only protection and cars being encouraged to cut over the bike lane to park
The kind .. you find … in a second hand store
Even taking the most optimistic view, it's reasonable to say change takes time and you can't do everything all at once. What concrete policies is she prioritizing that can meaningfully impact the city quickly (and help win a 2nd term!).

After much deliberation and a grueling interview process, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve accepted a new job and will not need any financial support from my parents to cover the high costs of childcare going forward. #AmericanDream #ThisIsYourCity
Who is Wilson? She does not own a car. She lives in a rented 600-square-foot apartment with her husband and two-year-old daughter. By her own account, she depends on checks from her parents back east to cover expenses. To let them off the hook, she seeks to force residents of Seattle to pay for “free” child care and other goodies.
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.
Those are automatic recount numbers
Seattle mayor Bruce Harrell was putting out at least a press release daily celebrating all the amazing things the mayor's office was doing right up until, let's see, November 3.
Nothing since then, though. Weird!

SEATTLE!!!
We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!
This mailer was so odd and inexplicable, I thought WA Bikes was an astroturf campaign.
Student media rules. They are lapping a lot of the spineless media orgs this year and showing how solidarity is the way.
It’s a genuine travesty. There’s maybe one bike locker and it’s hidden under the stairs and heavily used by Mariners.
@andrew-wiebe.bsky.social 2nd yellow for Laborda in '47. #Instantreplay
Clutch? Really?
I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA
10 YEAR OLD ME IS LOSING HER MIND (a thread 🧵)
Mayor Bruce Harrell is announcing his new budget today. In the runup, he's been touting "the largest investment in city history" in affordable housing. That "historic investment"? A sub-inflationary $1 million increase in the entire Office of Housing budget, from $348 million to $349 million.
Just read the district FAQ. Lots of facts and statements, but still doesn't answer basic question of what real-world problem it solves. If students couldn't get lunch & socialize in their previous schedule, they'd be leading the charge for schedule changes.

A lot of people have been calling me the
@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social of Seattle. But where Zohran is charismatic, telegenic and stylish, I've spent my whole adult life looking pretty dumpy. To look more mayoral, I enlisted my friend Andrew Ashiofu, who took me to one of Seattle's premier boutiques.
This gives me more questions than answers...
