Once you have decided a group’s survival is not worth your inconvenience- well, look around at other things, other people who inconvenience you - surely they can’t be worth much more. Surely you are the human, and they are the problem.

THE HEAD OF MEDICAL RESEARCH IN A RICH, MODERN NATION-STATE IS ARGUING FOR A FAITH & HOPE MEDICAL APPROACH OVER ACTUAL SCIENCE!

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?! HOW IS THIS EVEN A THING?!

This is regression to pre-Enlightenment. Seriously. In a world gone mad, this is comic villainy on par with the most chaotic events of this century.

And for what? A completely mediocre ideology? Literal rejection of science and biomedical research in the pursuit of faith and hope?!

Insanity.

The arguments made by the Norwegian government in this disability case seriously challenge the Scopes trial for completely absurd reasoning.

They are literally asserting government and expert infallibility and that positive evidence is not needed, as long as negative evidence isn't confirmed.

Real professionals acknowledge their mistakes and work hard to fix them. It's a crucial part of the deal, even more important than any training they get to become professionals.

It's entirely missing here, so what does it mean about the professionalism part?

TW: assisted suicide
30 min interview with Samuel’s mother and doctor.

Samuel developed #MECFS after a Covid infection and chose assisted suicide. Before his death he asked for his story to be used to raise awareness.

I have never seen any group of people outside of politics, cults and corrupt businesses literally use their own past failures to justify failing all over again.

They literally look at evidence that they are wrong and genuinely think it makes them right. Absolute science fail. Trumpian as fuck.

It's shocking how common the reaction of many physicians to Long Covid has been "hey, they look like the ME/CFS, POTS and fibromyalgia folks we've dismissed for decades" rather than the obvious, rational "holy fuck that means common infections were the likely cause all along like they reported".

It's absolutely bonkers that we learned with clarity that we can dramatically reduce or even possibly eliminate many respiratory viruses & we choose to embrace them instead.

This whole 'biopsychosocial' rehabilitation ideology is mindlessly inept and corrupt. It will never achieve a damn thing, will end up in the same trash heap of history as phrenology and scientific racism.

It has already destroyed tens of millions of lives, and that makes it impossible to stop.

All of this completely dwarfs Theranos' fraud. It's at least an order of magnitude worse in every single way. Fraudulent from beginning to end, top to bottom.

At least what Theranos was trying to replicate, existing lab tests, was viable and real, they just couldn't do it better as promised.

There are absolutely people dedicating their very best to solving those major health issues, but the institutions of medicine and the majority of those who work in them are against it, work against it, don't want to do the work to solve them, in fact prevent it from being solved.

It's hard to describe the totality of failure in medicine's mishandling of chronic illnesses like Long Covid and ME/CFS.

Closest I can think is combining the malicious incompetence of the Trump administration and humanity's self-destructive worsening climate disaster, making every wrong decision.

"Here is how bullshit replicates itself in today’s medical world: Conduct a flawed trial, declare success despite serious questions, then develop health policy based on these hyped-up claims."

Why even do studies if their results don't even matter?

Short term. Long term it's a massive loss for them. It might cost them less per year, but it continues to cost them indefinitely.

Had this been handled competently, they would have likely made far more from the premiums we no longer pay alone.

Same with governments. It's extra stupid economics.

The idea that the future of medicine is this biopsychosocial rehabilitation is insane. It's absolutely not.

It's not even plausible, and even if it did work, it scales negatively, the more of it is needed the bigger the structures to organize it have to be. Zero economies of scale, will never work.

05.03.2026 15:39 👍 6 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0

This approach is simply not serious. It has been known for decades that it does nothing, is exactly as effective as sleeping with potato slices in socks.

Rehabilitation is simply not needed here. What is needed is treatments, and zero progress has been made on this front.

05.03.2026 15:39 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

This has been known for over 5 years. Those treatments have been standard the whole time, and yet even recently-published trials are all 'pilot', tiny trials with awful methodologies.

None of this addresses the causes. It doesn't work. It leaves millions prisoners because nothing is happening.

05.03.2026 15:39 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

There is more than enough data showing that most recover from Long Covid over time, without doing anything special, usually resting.

This makes *all* the claims of recovery through 'mindfulness' or rehabilitation worthless. They are banking on natural recoveries, have zero influence on outcomes.

Yeah like to put things in perspective, the damage done by Sergey Brin’s ex-wife single handedly funding large segments of the anti-vax movement probably undid shitloads of positive public health work done through philanthropy. The ability to use that money for evil shit is just far greater.

The cover up and refusal to do anything for tens of millions suffering from chronic illness is morally and technically comparable to what the tobacco industry did.

Except no one actually profits from it. It's just pure incompetence and fraud for no reason other than ideology and politics.

04.03.2026 15:28 👍 6 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0

What if a small group of people could have done something to prevent millions of lives from being destroyed?

What if they instead did everything they could to make every single thing about it worse? Lied about it? Covered it up?

This is a perfect example of it. All of this has been a choice.

04.03.2026 15:28 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

It's not just that this could still be written today, about ME/CFS and Long Covid, it *is* written, has been continuously for the last several decades, and still nothing changes.

Change is resisted everywhere, intentional refusal causing disaster for millions, and not a damn person is accountable.

04.03.2026 15:28 👍 12 🔁 4 💬 1 📌 0

Medicine's ongoing failure to deal with Long Covid did not begin in 2020.

It happened decades before that. Nothing has changed since, all of this has been and continues to be intentional.

There is something deeply wrong with parts of this industry, in how they deal with their own failures.

01.03.2026 15:51 👍 12 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0

The mass suffering created and amplified by psychosomatic ideology is absolutely criminal.

None of this has to happen, it's all a choice. No one is responsible or accountable for any of this filth.

And all for complete bullshit fantasies.
