it has been a long time since i came out of a play session feeling as bored out of my mind as this, the endgame in wilds is the equivalent of downing a glass of orange juice after brushing your teeth

i have liked a handful of the fights for flowing well but the majority of them do feel like i am either stunlocking the boss or the boss is stunlocking me and that there is kind of this illusion of skill. yes, there are millions of options of armor and weapon, but all paths lead to trading stuns

i wish it was a lot less padded and that more time was spent on balancing things. i hate that the only way this series tries to kill you is through stunlocks and then one shots with no telegraphing. i hate not knowing where i am meant to go half the time. i hate how gear progression is handled

i can't say i dislike this series (because i don't and i wouldn't be playing it if i did dislike it) but i do think the series is deeply flawed and many of my issues with world persist into wilds despite a difference of 7 years between both (not counting rise as i have not yet played it)

this game is going to experience the hard drive grinder where all roads lead to uninstalling the 118 gb of 60fps capped arkveld

this is what we call "necky want rope rope" where i come from

took a little look at the armor set and it requires gems, which are extremely rare in my experience, from multiple monsters. on top of the materials that those monsters don't even drop. so i have to hunt like 4 or 5 different monsters for hours hoping for their gems. great gameplay, truly engaging

even with the difficulty spike it is still easier overall outside of omega which is just a poor placement for an encounter. but progression in wilds is pretty bad anyway and not very well guided. they frequently try to send you off on missions you are just not equipped for at all

it kind of makes me laugh because wilds is way easier than world ever was and things like the wound system are so easy to exploit for easy damage. but by time you make it to the endgame you can tell they took feedback from launch because it became a slog as soon as i made it deep into high rank

it just feels so frustrating and this is definitely where the monkey paw comes in with wilds overall being a faster paced game than world. because quests are shorter, that means they now have to make farming for materials take even longer. all to make up for the difficulty spike in the late endgame

bored out of my mind after spending all night getting the armor set that i needed and now i need to upgrade my weapons and armor again and i have to hope the materials appear again. and i haven't even started the armor yet which will be worse because it's a 20 minute fight to farm as opposed to 5

one of the worst turnoffs in a game has to be when you do hours of grinding to unlock something and then there is immediately another wall which requires more grinding because apparently giving people something new to do is too hard and making them repeat the same thing for 100+ hours is better

we did not need an out of place robot with one shot fire, one shot missiles, one shot flying fists, and one shot lasers in a game about attacking monsters all because they decided that the game needed final fantasy content to succeed

thought about putting my race in my bio but after thinking about it there's just certain shit that shouldn't come out of your piehole whether you know my race or not and if you end up with your ass in your hands because of it that's on you and not me

watching the rest of the team fight omega because this is genuinely one of the worst bosses i have played in any game. also crossover slop so that adds to the "i hate this" factor

this is part of why the year of prophecy was so poorly received because it felt like this year in destiny was bungie coming close to losing all their depth and all their edge trying to make the bare minimum. the story has been mediocre and sidelined for a star wars fanfiction. i won't defend that

those are not the first and not the last. bungie has always made events that bring the community together. some better, some worse. they never stop doing it which is why they stand out to me. they could be just another company creating slop. and while we have come close, they are capable of better

this marathon ARG to try and unlock the cryo archives and whatever is behind them is nothing new, this is the continuation of a legacy. and fitting that we went from one in universe archive to another. and while it was less extensive, there was the whisper and zero hour as community puzzles

saw someone saying "glad to see bungie hasn't lost their sauce from 2016" and no, the sauce has been here the whole time even if it has been harder to locate at times. never forget the ARG that came out of heresy with the chess puzzle and the aion archives

Marathon still hasn't unlocked its fourth zone, but this group of ARG hunters is working to change that - and they're on the cusp of something big
