A person so evil that John Cornyn despised him before he announced.
No.
this is bad

Jauntiness and sweetness are both visible in Nori's photo here. Every sympathy to your bestie and to you on the loss of the clearly beloved Nori.
I just rode my trike from Northampton to Amherst College to work with a friend at the library! And back. Bike path beautifully clear to Hazel Ave. Amherst College playing fields. Path clogged with snow after that, but took Hazel to Rt. 9 the rest of the way. Sidewalks to Hazel Ave on the way back.

Meme. Painting of King Charles II of England. He is sitting in a fancy chair against a melted-chocolate background. His hair -- presumably a wig -- is enormous. Big, and styled in curls; with that 'do, he'd fit right into an '80s hairband like Ratt. If he changed cloths, that is. He is not dressed for glam rock. He's wearing a fancy white lace neckerchief, and heavy robes of state. His clothes weigh him down to remind him of his responsibilities. It is not a good outfit to wear to a trampoline park. He is facing a bit away from you, but his eyes are cutting in your direction. His eyebrows are raised, and nose casts a curious shadow. He has suspiciously large nostrils. There are bags under his eyes, and his face is starting to droop like an ice cream sculpture of a basset on a hot afternoon. He looks like he stays up nights watching Fox News, and honestly, he feels too old to rock. Meme text reads: "Chareels in Charge (of 26 years of eels debts)
Do you have a friend who ducks out on paying his share? Walter Underhill feels you.
Underhill bought fish & eels for the king, & in 1666 petitioned Parliament for help. He claimed the crown hadn't paid him for 26 years, & owed him 1,385£.
That's about 156,711£ / $214,922 today.

The idea of a "Household Vote" (which is the effective impact of the SAVE Act, given how hard it will make for married women to vote) is common among powerful Republicans in both the White House and Congress. They don't see it as 'radical'. It's what our White Christian founders did.

Black and white photo of a light skinned elderly gentleman sitting in a chair with a blanket draped around his shoulders. He looks at the camera jovially and points to a shorthaired white and ginger cat sitting contentedly in his lap.
The adorable lap tyrant. Real photo postcard from my collection, no date/info.
I forgot about this. We chanted a version of it with him at every rally I heard him speak. He gave this to people, this reminder, in place after place.
One part of Jesse Jackson's legacy I feel able to talk about is that he absolutely helped to pull the Democratic Party forward on gay rights. He did so out of both moral conviction-- because it was right--and a shrewd belief in coalition politics. That's one of many lessons we can learn from him.
Jesse Jackson was an early and ardent supporter of gay rights. In fact, on July 17, 1984 at the DNC in San Fransisco, the first speech EVER at a national political convention calling for gay rights was delivered by none other than Rev. Jackson himself.
RIP Jesse Jackson. He demanded the right to inspect the Krome detention facility in Miami after it became apparent Krome was a glorified concentration camp created by Ronald Reagan for Afro Latinos and Black Haitian refugees who fled to the USA after the Mariel Boatlift.
Krome still operates today.
I think I heard him, too at the 1993 March on Washington for LGBTQ rights. His voice soared. If he was called on, he would be there. That's how I remember him in the 80s and 90s. His Rainbow Coalition was a site of so much hope.
I would have been 23. We were far back in the crowd. The speakers were hard to hear, but when Rev. Jackson spoke, his passion and clarity were riveting. Everyone in that massive crowd stopped and listened. I think I heard him again at the 25th anniversary of the March on Washington.
Trying to remember times I heard Jesse Jackson in person. I'm thinking of was a march on Washington for the 20th anniversary of the one Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at in 1963. So this was 1983. I was met friends who had been at the Seneca Women's Encompment for a Future of Peace and Justice.
“He shined a light on jobs increasingly performed by minority and immigrant workers—janitors, hospital orderlies, home care workers—who were not yet on the nation’s radar during his presidential campaigns.”
I have it, but I haven't read it yet. I will!
Large 2,200 year old marble manhole cover depicting the face of a sea God.
(The church isn’t even named after him, and his skull isn’t even the most famous thing in there. That trophy goes to the Bocca Della Verità, the old Roman drain cover propped against a wall. Legend says if you put your hand in there and don’t tell la verità - the truth - it will snap shut on you.)

They look nice on a shrine
Here is the skull,
Of St. Valentine.
