All of this while people like me are sick with cancer.
My son suffers from cystic fibrosis.
We are both fighting hard to protect our healthcare , Medicaid and Medicare .
Are we angry yet ?
Mayor Ras Baraka speaks out following his arrest earlier today and responds directly to Alina Habba: βI did not enter that place unlawfully. I did not break any laws. So all of that is incorrect. She was not there so she should get some better informationβ
A string of headlines by different outlets saying Trump fired the Democratic commissioners on the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and then one headline from The Verge that begins: βTrump illegally firesβ¦β
Be like The Verge.
We canβt just sit by and watch it happen. Weβre organizing. Weβre fighting back. Weβve just launched our βFight to Save Medicaidβ month of action to put vulnerable House Republicans on notice in case they think they can get away with ripping health care away from their own constituents. Specifically, weβre targeting four vulnerable Republicans β Tom Barrett (MI-07), Don Bacon (NE-02), Mike Lawler (NY-17), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01). These Republicans need to understand something: the price for this vote is their job. And weβre going to deliver that message loud and clear: in town halls, by urging voters to contact their representatives, and through constant pressure and accountability. Our representatives must serve the people β not ignore them β and certainly not harm them. Republicans will either learn that lesson now or at the ballot box.
I appreciate emails from #DNC Chair @kenmartin.bsky.social.
He details the head-on Dem fight for Medicaid:

βThe price for this vote is their job.β
Go get βem.

ICYMI: There were big protests today. And for many of the protesters, Kilmar Abrego Garciaβs case was emblematic of what they consider to be a broader attack on the rule of law, due process, and democratic principles.
@isabelaalhadeff.bsky.social was there in DC and spoke with many of them:
Robert Reich post: If the minimum wage had kept pace with worker productivity gains since the 1960s, it would now be nearly $26 an hour.
May Day Reminder:
The Federal Minimum Wage - in the richest country EVER - is still only $7.25/hr.
UNACCEPTABLE.

I'll also say: the level of popular mobilization and various forms of civil resistance across society were absolutely critical to tanking Trump's approval ratings, and will be even more important moving forward.
We can't rest on our laurels. But, the wheels are coming off already for them.
I was more scared than anyone I know about how bad things would get under Trump, but now I weirdly find myself more optimistic than most: I think Trump might be cooked.
Everything he's doing is so wildly unpopular, he's going to get more unpopular, and he can't/won't reverse course.

Trump may have βimmunityβ thanks to SCOTUS, but you know who doesnβt??
Pam Bondi. Stephen Miller. Kash Patel. Pete Hegseth.
They can still go down for all of this.

Here are 91 pages of letters that 14 House Democrats just sent to the nine law firms that have paid off Trump to not attack them.

Resistance is costly, but πππ to House Dems for bringing attention to the costs of compliance. Letβs hope other firms and institutions get the message!
I can't believe we're still having this conversation, he should've been thrown under the bus the first time.
Hell, he never should've been even considered

A little-known firm with investors linked to JD Vance, Elon Musk & Trump could get a piece of the federal expense card system β & its 100s of millions in fees. βThis goes against all the normal contracting safeguards,β one expert said.

The turnout in small towns across the country has been incredible drawing crowds of thousands. Weβre already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.
