winners + losers, etc. definitions of win/lose will vary, but one thing is clear:
it’s creating a new class of software devs who are completely replaceable. stunning to imagine work of mine for which i billed $80k over 3 days is now the output of a prompt.
Understanding cause and effect (if I hit the snooze button then I’ll get more sleep) and second order thinking (but then I’ll be late for work) are the basics of being an intelligent person.
Unfortunately we decided to elect the dumbest and most spiteful people we could find to the highest offices.
i’ve seen a lot of commoditization. CICD systems were once (always) bespoke + wld make or break a company’s dev cadence. today? write a build file, plug it in + move on. 20 mins tops.
if the tools can (do?) encapsulate near-total dev knowledge, then zero-to-[thing] time is collapsed to hours.

i was outside for 4 hours yesterday moving rocks in just a t-shirt. the neighbors repeatedly asked me to put on pants.
hopping on the moto to meet friends for lunch. the riding Kevlars are now too big in the waist after 60 days of training.
another sign from the universe that it’s time to say goodbye to the moto. i kinda feel this one but it’s the beginning of a whole new chapter of life: full-time travel.
