First chase video in ages and I use it to throw a temper tantrum of this magnitude? SHOTS FIRED. SUCH DRAMA. Maybe it's just the SDS talking, but this video is gonna say some things that can't be taken back... :)

My brother doesn't want to go on another storm chase and this exact lightning bolt is a major reason why.
Starting in 2026, we are launching a new "Behind the Chase" style format for future Stephen's Storm Log Videos. This will allow for more streamlined content creation.
My New Year's resolution was to finally start making daily progress catching back up. Each chase is too special to let it languish forever.
If you spin the wrong way next time I see you, you're even!
No I'm joking, the tornado was clearly cooler! :)
I saw this right after I saw you and honestly it's unclear which was better.
That last pic really has a classic Simon Stalenhag vibe!
I feel like online, detailed chase logs are such an important way to memorialize each chase. Thanks for doing these, always enjoyed them!
Big if true
Marty Supreme, Bugonia, and Black Bag were so in contention for the 5th spot. Mickey 17, The Phoenician Scheme, and 28 Years Later were some I had high hopes for for fell a little short. And there are still at least 10 more 2025 movies I need to see.
Favorite movies of 2025! What were yours?
www.wxlog.com/events/may17... - check it out if you'd like to see a bunch of unpublished McCook, NE 2019 tornado photos or read a bunch of words about that chase. I try to make my logs as cozy as possible. And yes I am still this far behind!
Also I am blessed for the privilege so it confounds my emotions.
I woke up at 230 in the morning and got in a flying metal tube all to look at this cloud in North Dakota.
So much 2025 chase material to sort through -- been a really fun season. Here's a small spout near Ragland, NM today.
Render time on my machine is pretty slow, like 10-15 seconds a frame, but then again I just have a 1080GTX GPU.
While it's not magic, I like it best when a photo is 95% there, but you just want some very subtle cleanup of noise or focus. It's also good for denoising gopro photos in low light. This lapse was atrociously out of focus so it really pushed Topaz to the limit and you can see it in the artifacts.
Topaz did its best to save this lapse from the oblivion of a bumped focus ring. Here's the awesome (confusing) genesis of the anticyclonic tornado near South Plains, TX on April 24, 2025. Never seen anything quite like this before.
I hate to announce that today was our first... ahem....bsky.bust.... of the 2025 season :(
Shoot I wish I'd seen yall
First one to spot the tornado in this photo wins. THIS IS WHY WE CHASE!!! From east of Roswell, NM yesterday.
A little tornado roar from yesterday to brighten your Saturday.
So nice to be out on the plains chasing again. I think yesterday was the most successful first-chase-of-the-year we've ever had.
Finally finished compiling all our storm log data from the 2018 season (comically behind, I know). Of the 11 days we chased, we only saw one brief tornado on May 2. Of the 47.1 hours we were in "chase mode" only 174 seconds of those were spent seeing a tornado. That's 0.103%!!!
You are my official way of marking the start and end of chase season. Always excited to see the Rav4 out again - chases are not that far away.
A farm in every chase state..... goals!
I'm so ready to chase, but I'm not yet ready for the brutal post-bust drive back to ABQ. Gimme that first west-of-I35 setup please!
A weird thing about #nmwx storm chasing is the perpetual proximity to history. On our June 3, 2018 bust, we just so happened to stop for a final look at the departing MCS near the Trinity site. Added here is the mushroom cloud's rough size / location. The juxtaposition of scales blows my mind.
