The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

this is a broad subtweet purely because it's so tangential that saying it in response to any post would be peak Reply Person, but comments like "wow, are you even TRAINED IN POLLING" do crack me up, because many v/ good and experienced opinion researchers I know have zero formal schooling in it

In more ways than one! Warnock ran a persuasion campaign in 2022, focusing on how he worked with Ted Cruz and Tommy Tuberville while Stacey Abrams focused on juicing up base turnout. One of them won their race.

An unbaptized 5-year-old plopped himself down next to me the other day and asked with absolutely no context or warning, "can you eat God?"
Apparently the correct answer was "I can, but **you** cannot."

I may be wrong, but there was not a competitive statewide Dem primary in Texas in 2022.
While I do expect Texas to shift blue, I don't know that number of ballots in the primary is a *great* indicator.

My parish is basically college kids, me (29, single), parents, and then a bunch of people 60+.
I hang with the parents. I volunteer at children and youth stuff, I babysit their kids, etc. Basically always being around has helped me fit into their community?
I realize that might not be helpful.

I get the spirit but I feel like anyone in public school at the time of "Born This Way" knows at least half a dozen guys who literally came out because of Lady Gaga. Living through the period of "Born This Way" (2011) -> Obergefell (2015) was a whirl wind in how public opinion can radically change.

I would point out it was the liberals, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris who ran for President on "Trump is a scary authoritarian" while leftists derided them for not reaching out to his supporters and claimed there'd be no big difference between them and Trump.
