Appreciate it. I pursued the Winston story for 3 years. A lot more there… the lawyer who gave a legal read of the chess book basically said: “Ok there are no issues. Now why didn’t you just write a book about that Winston kid?”

Headshot of journalist Brendan O’Meara with DEPTH PERCEPTION branding and text: “[‘The Creative Nonfiction Podcast’] curries good favor and it helps platform people who might not otherwise get that platform. It wasn’t until I started to try to serve other people, that good things started to happen to me.” — Brendan O’Meara, writer and podcaster

I think speaking strictly as a heavyweight absolutely and with his career overall, even more so. On top of that, the road warrior component to such a dizzying array of spectacular wins. After Tony Bellew win, how many considered he could do what he’s achieved as a heavyweight?

This week I spoke to Cian O’Clery, director and show-runner for Love on the Spectrum. While it’s marketed as reality TV it’s absent competition, riches, a recording deal, cringe zero sum battle. The stakes feel far higher somehow…

Ali vs Stevenson: The Greatest Fight That Never Was on Vimeo
10 years ago I asked George Foreman if he had any interest in talking about Teofilo Stevenson. He immediately invited me down to his home to Houston. Such a generous, kind spirit and just an incredible character. RIP Big George 🥊
