I've called this becoming the "Patagonia of social networks". It's a "Don't use this app" ethos, where I NEVER want you to be hanging out on @sunslider.bsky.social for hours on end. I want you to come on for 5-10 minutes, share, catch up with friends, and then go back to living.
And it's not half-bad for a v1.1! I was talking to a user the other day and she put why she liked it pretty simply:
- it's not Google/Meta/Amazon/etc.
- it's easy: you post what you want, choose who can see it, and that's it
- it's clean: no ads, no influencers, no impossible-to-understand settings.
Subscribe to @theonion.com and @defector.com, keep mashing the retweet button here on @bsky.app, join us @sunslider.bsky.social, take a chance on any other effort you come across. It's *hard* to do it all, so give yourself time, and take advantage when you can.
