Not even the Nazis expressly announced they were committing war crimes. Indeed, at Nuremberg war crimes were denied.
But here, openly, the US Secretary for Defense is explicitly admitting to committing war crimes.

Someone wanted a reminder that they had enough children already, thank you.
@TheChiefNerd SAM ALTMAN: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
i donβt know how this is supposed to work in terms of intelligence but whatever these guys do is taking stuff that is not theirs to take and then sell it for the highest possible price

So if using AI actually does erode human cognition the way studies suggest, then it's a feature instead of a bug?
The world is gross enough without "take away people's ability to think so we can sell it back to them" being on the list.
GNU Terry Pratchett. Forever grateful for his words, his vision, and also for the many friends in my life because he brought us together.
Alan.
First Past the Post is kind of exhausting, honestly π£
Let's keep it simple. Let's make it proportional.
A Calvin& Hobbes cartoon. Calvin's mum screams "Calvin! What are you doing to the coffee table?!!?" Calvin, hammer in hand, pauses while he considers the numerous nails already protruding from the table top, before finally asking "Is this some sort of trick question or what?".
Which immediately reminded me of this. The British Dennis strikes me as a bit older and a more intentional vandal, while Calvin is a more innocent agent of chaos. OK, not that innocent, but he still had more wholesome moments too. Somewhere between the two?
"Ministers want to make it harder for inquests to pass verdicts of unlawful killing, which have been crucial in getting justice for women who committed suicide after suffering abuse."
I don't think anyone expected Labour would change course after its electoral drubbing but this is π€―

And yet every time you see a picture of the same 23 terfs looking miserable in a field somewhere, we're told they're the majority opinion
Fucking evil.
Not only would I be happy to replace Churchill on fivers with a badger, I'd replace the Churchill statue in Parliament Square with a big bronze badger AND I'd replace Ed Davey with an ACTUAL badger coz it'd probably vote in less austerity.
Native British Animals you say?
The BBC are really going out of their way to not call these The Peter Files.

I think I'm also going to send an invoice along with my opt-out. Let's see: 40 million users who had access to ""my"" bad writing advice (per Grammarly themselves) x 220ish days that Expert Review has been live x a very modest $0.01 per day per user....

If an official commits an impeachable offense and nobody acts to impeach, it is no longer an impeachable offense.
People who oppose impeachment as βpointlessβ because it seems unlikely to result in removal do not understand this very simple point and seem unwilling to even try to understand it.
Thankfully this guy has been jailed for seven and a half years, but the frightening thing is Travelodge DEFENDED their actions, saying staff followed company policy
They're now reviewing it apparently, and MPs have written to the boss demanding a meeting

There was also this last week
How on earth do staff think it's OK to just give a woman's room key card to a guy who turns up at reception in the early hours of the morning??
She was checked in as a solo person!

I've used Travelodge in the past as a simple, cost-effective way to stay somewhere overnight, but I won't be using them ever again - their security policies and duty of care (or lack of) are ridiculous

Transphobes attack Green Party supporters right in front of newly elected MP Hannah Spencer.
No report in the Guardian about a woman MP being attacked on International Womenβs Day by transphobic fascists after just a week in the job.
They have these βnewsβ items though
Just finding room to slot this into the very very full 'the problem is violent and/or abusive cis men, MANY of which are activists within the Transphobia movement' file
