NATO bills by GDP, not by people. Big countries look like big payers because many citizens live “under the same roof.” But per capita, Americans pay about $2/year into NATO’s common budget - Danes pay about $9/year. Small countries often pay more per citizen than big ones.
Greenland has about 40,420 eligible voters.
Polls show only 6% support becoming part of the United States.
That equals roughly 2,400 people out of the entire electorate.
Greenland has the legal right to leave Denmark under international law and its Self-Government Act. Independence can only be decided by referendum. Polls show 56% support independence, while 85% reject becoming part of the U.S.
Being militarily strong doesn’t mean you won’t face resistance. If your leaders threaten, mock, or push others too far, it won’t end in respect - it ends in conflict. And then it's the American people who must rebuild the friendship.
Law is law. When rules apply only to some, they stop being law and become power. Power without rules protects no one.

The U.S. bombs Iran but says it’s not war. Russia invades Ukraine and calls it a “special operation.” No one wants to say “war” — because that comes with consequences. But bombs fall, people die. It’s not the words, it’s the actions that define war.
