The letters are thicker and more balanced than the rough layout before. There are ascenders and descenders where expected. “The” is half the height of the surname and tilted at a dynamic upward angle. Lowercase starting strokes begin with head serifs and downstrokes end with spurs, upward curls much like what a calligraphy brush stroke might impart.
