He should see it pop up under his notifications! I’ll have to check out the sub stack too!
Well this is cool. Not only does this issue feature my dear friend @kristinwrites.bsky.social. This issue also has a poem that uses each line of a poem I wrote as the first line of a stanza. How cool to be in conversation with another poet through verse like this!
See pages 36 and 38!
Cheering you on!
Middle Grade Hub Pitch Event Small Peer-to-Peer polishing groups.
Hey #KidLitChat!
If you're working on getting a submission package ready for pitching, @middlegradehub.bsky.social has a great series of critique events coming up you should definitely check out.
They're going to be doing workshops for pitches, queries, first pages, and more!

@readappalachia.bsky.social I feel like this one might interest you!
#KidLitChat I want to get some serious drafting done for a prose MG story.
And also further research potential YA NIV. 👀 I don't usually write YA. So this might be interesting.
Thanks! :) If anyone is interested, I have most of the Selling Yourself Without Selling Yourself Short series updated and I'm in the process of getting my The Magic of "What If?" series up as well. vbartles.com/courses.htm #KidLitChat #KidLitMarketing
@miriamsf.bsky.social I feel like you might have insight here?
#KidLitChat They better pay you!
#KidLitChat So what are goals everyone has for the upcoming quarter?
Sounds like some great resources! #KidLitChat
Oh!! I'm also in the process of updating all of my on-demand writing courses! I'd been thinking for a while about adding an addendum to my "Wonderful Websites that Work" course with illustrator-specific considerations. My 10-minute addendum has bloomed into over an hour of added content! #KidLitChat
#KidLitChat I'm heading up her local street team for finding ways to promote her book. So helping with finding venues, organizing friends to help reach out to local bookstores to ask if they'll stock it, etc... So that's why I'm counting it for part of this quarter.
#KidLitChat How was I not yet following you? I thought I'd followed most KidLitChat regulars!
No Billboard Gospel: poems by Emma Galloway Stephens
#KidLitChat Oh! Also, my local poet friend (we get together to do writing sprints every week) has her first poetry chapbook coming out in April!
I love her work so much. And I'm so SO happy for her.
#KidLitChat Any tips for me? I've taught this to a college English class. But first time for highschool!
I also made them a handy worksheet listing literary magazines and journals that want to publish highschoolers. I'm hoping it gets them some great grounding for the future.
#KidLitChat Oh man. I'm sorry. Does your local SCBWI have any writing chapters nearby?
Exactly!
#KidLitChat This quarter I also had a school visit and my next school visit is this Thursday. The first was a poetry reading at an elementary school. This is teaching highschoolers about writing a story pitch in a local creative writing highschool class. I'm really looking forward to it.
#KidLitChat My goodness. That's impressive.
For the pitch event itself, Adam was just telling me we have at least 11 new-to-the-event agents. And a lot of returning agent interest. Super exciting. #KidLitChat
#KidLitChat What a magical cover.
April 1st is an unforgettable launch date for sure!
I'm glad you were able to see what was the right path forward for you. #KidLitChat
Here's the 2 prompts so far this month:
March 2: Write a poem that begins precisely where you currently are in life, but lands somewhere else entirely.
March 9: Write a poem which confesses something that’s secretly seasonal to you, but not so much to others.

Oh, Angie interviewed me for her blog. And she had such thoughtprovoking questions. #KidLitChat
#KidLitChat It is amazing! And if you are looking for critique you should absolutely check it out.
Wonderful. Being paid is good.
WOW! That's so awesome! Thanks for sharing your joy with us! #KidLitChat
