And Trump got very mad at Steve Doocy for asking about this.

There is going to be months if not years of this sort of barbarism coming out.

Spring is arriving earlier due to climate change And that has a broad impactβ€”from tourism to drought to allergies

"Climate change is bringing earlier seasonal warming to many pockets of the Mountain West. With that come implications for wide-ranging impacts from fewer snow days at ski resorts to parched farms and ranches." via @knpr.org

OpenAI Is Opening the Door to Government Spying Whether it means to or not

New: @matteowong.bsky.social talked to a number of legal experts about OpenAI's contract with the Pentagon. It sure does look like mass surveillance of Americans through GPT and autonomous weapons are on the table... and it isn't really up to OpenAI, anyway.

This is what new age climate change denial looks like.

The truth is that some can't help themselves to keep digging, even while putting their names on papers comfirming acceleration of global warming and the contributing factors of reducing aerosols and continued greenhouse gas emissions.

One last graphic showing Arctic sea-ice volume, running second behind 2017, this one using the "monthly average" volume posted by PIOMAS.

The accelerating Arctic sea-ice catastrophe is bad enough, no need to catastrophize.

I just did a more rigorous computation for increasing Earth's albedo (reflectivity) using 92% efficient mirrors.

To get back to year 2000 albedo levels, we only need a band about 84 km wide (42 km North & South of the equator) of mirrors circling the earth.

The more you know!

One of the most captivating little turns of phrase in Gravity's Rainbow goes "barrage balloons to populate fat and friendly the daybreak." I think about its construction all the time, whenever I want to write a better sentence.

I fear "riding in a golf cart fatly" is now forever its twin.

Rep. Randy Fine claims it was Iran, not the US, that bombed a girls school killing over 160 people.

When asked what evidence he has β€” he says, β€œwhat's the evidence they didn’t?”

Vance's "war on fraud" is a fraud It'd be laughable if people weren't getting hurt.

"The truth is Vance’s 'war on fraud' is a phantom, a PR effort that will likely uncover no misdeeds that weren’t already known to actual fraud investigators. Vance’s pretend fight against fraud is the real fraud, and it’s just what we might expect from the most corrupt administration in history."

Folks who didn’t grow up in American evangelicalism & think that β€œwe’re at war to kick off Armaggedon” story sounds far-fetchedβ€”it isn’t. There are many folksβ€”lots now in positions of powerβ€”who desperately want war in the Middle East because it’s required by their interpretation of Biblical prophecy

$2 billion already spent on Trump’s war.

Tupac said it decades ago.

Money for the oligarchy and corpocracy. Money for the forever wars. Money for Raytheon. Money for Palantir. Money for AI, which will cause unemployment/displacement in jobs. Money for everything but for we, the people. No rights. No social safety nets. No biz regulations. And no justice, no peace.

WHY wouldn’t Republicans want transparency in these government-funded, private, FOR PROFIT detention centers? If the GOP has ANY compassion, mercy, empathy, CHRISTIANITY, why wouldn’t they want to make sure the rich isn’t profiting off human misery (which has happened throughout history)ON OUR DIME?

Non-citizens voting in federal elections is already illegal and extremely rare.

So what’s the SAVE Act really about?

Forcing millions of citizens to dig up passports or birth certificates just to register to vote.
