We're heading to the family home, here's *cough* a few games *cough* we're bringing.
I’ve received “The Quacks of Quedlinburg” as a gift, and that’s going to be our game for the next few days 🧙♀️🧪🎲
The strategy is mostly about deciding which cubes to sacrifice. You don’t have a lot of freedom at each turn, so when you think ahead, you mostly need to estimate the what’s the probability to need a certain cube.

Ideally, we'd be able to create a system where entities would be composed by the most atomic blocks possible, start from first principles (e.g., molecules -> proteins -> cells -> organisms in nature). Definitely not computationally feasible, unless we set tons of assumptions and constraints.

Thanks a lot for sharing! pygame_spiel and open_spiel are my favourite projects to work in my free time. I'll slowly release new features. The next thing I absolutely want is the ability to choose two bots, since currently one has to be a human. It'll be fun to watch epic battles between models ♟️🎲🧠.
When estimating the probability for an event occurring, the book introduces the concept of "base rate", which reminds me of the concept of "prior" in bayesian probability.
There’s a bit of that too, but mostly I was thinking about the first few sections, where it explains why pros/cons tables aren't ideal for decision-making. Instead, it suggests adding a weight and probability to each option, similar to how policies work in RL.
Though, there's still a lot of work ahead before I get really good at decision-making 😅.
I just finished reading "How to Decide: Simple Tools for Making Better Choices" by @annieduke.com. There are a lot of parallels with reinforcement learning if you're into that, but it's definitely an easier read than the book by R. Sutton and A. Barto 😂. Great book—highly recommended!
