Emily Elizabeth presents her Big Red Dog, Clifford, with a cake. Clifford is still a puppy, only twice her size, and heโ€™s lying down in the opening of his enormous yellow doghouse (which probably only lasted a week). Emily Elizabeth is wearing her trademark outfit (pink long-sleeve shirt, black skirt, black-and-pink striped knee socks), topped with a pink heart apron. Both Clifford and Emily Elizabeth look very happy. As they should!

@kirkhamilton.com I do hope you got your wife a Big Red Dog. (No doubt she got a bunch of these jokes as a kidโ€ฆ)

Even though science fiction writer Robert Heinlein was a lifelong champion of libertarian ideals, he still managed to see the dangers of โ€˜freedom from civilizationโ€™ in his short story, โ€œCoventryโ€ (1940). (Unfortunately it also inspired aspects of Hubbardโ€™s Dianetics.)

@billsimmons.bsky.social Kids on the beach in the โ€˜70s = Rushโ€™s โ€œLakeside Parkโ€. A better time.

โ€œEveryone would gather on the 24th of May
Sitting in the sand to watch the fireworks display
Dancing fires on the beach, singing songs together
Though it's just a memory, some memories last foreverโ€

Loved the episode, and the project as a whole.

A little surprised no mention of WEDDING CRASHERS, perhaps Ferrellโ€™s ultimate man-child turn. Could have been on the โ€œRecommended if you likeโ€ฆโ€ list. (Fun aside: first R-rated comedy to gross over $200M)

I respect and support your decision, and the difficult process that got you here. Itโ€™s disappointing but perhaps unsurprising that some portion of AMCAโ€™s listeners responded poorly, but this franchise attracts all types. Donโ€™t let a vocal minority get you down! Also, Austin made a golf analogy. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I can imagine. Iโ€™m a typical WASP, families have been here from Scotland, England and N. Ireland for generations, and still have that affinity. Canada will try and reaffirm its connections thru the Commonwealth to offset this nonsense, but every country is going through it these days.

a tv screen shows a woman wearing a mask and the words " there is something terribly wrong with this country isn't there " Alt: In a brief scene from film V FOR CENDETTA (2005), a tv screen with a stylized โ€œV TVโ€ icon in the corner shows a person wearing a white Guy Fawkes mask (a smiling moustachioed figure that has come to be identified with anarchist/resistance movements like Anonymous), a dark straight wig of shoulder-length hair and a black high-collared jacket, in front of a red velvet draped curtain. The figure, who styles himself as โ€œVโ€, says: โ€œThere is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?"

Loved the repartรฉe with Yasi and Amanda. (You were okay too. ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Wondered where you land on the James McTiegue-directed Wachowski adaptation of Alan Mooreโ€™s V FOR VENDETTA (2005). Film itself has flaws, but still compelling and features some terrific performances. Feels increasingly relevant.

โ€ฆand we thought the US was disliked around the world before. ๐Ÿคฏ This new era of utter abdication of moral responsibility is achieving record lows every day. I wonder how many decades will pass before they accept accountability for the damage they are doing right now.

a man walking in a dark room with just one more thing written in yellow Alt: A short man in a short tan trenchcoat (itโ€™s actor Peter Falk, portraying his famous TV detective, Columbo) is leaving a room, pauses outside the door, turns and comes back while saying โ€œJust one more thingโ€ฆโ€

Sometimes the grownup in the room just has to say โ€œNoโ€. There should be people in every arm and office of the US Government taking similarly principled stands against illegal executive orders and their enforcement.
