Introducing: βTasting Menuβ a series I've started to share songs I enjoy and do so in a more βevergreenβ format. Each song will coordinate with a flavor profile (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami, palate cleanser). Happy listening! www.decoratedyouth.com/tasting-menu...
Such an iconic album
Being (literally) online vs being offline were distinctly separate modes, plus the fact of getting kicked offline and having to reconnect anytime someone called the landline
Happy Turnstile release day to all who celebrate!
Knowing Chicago is the birthplace of so many (epic) indie rock bands, how long do you think it'll take for a new local band to call themselves something along the lines of "Phicago Cope" or "Cope Phicago"
A collab I didn't know I wanted/needed youtu.be/d5OB461GCD8?...
An observation I've noticed the last few years is that some writers/photogs/creatives are putting their Venmo/Buy Me a Coffee accounts front and center on their websites and socials and have begun to completly remove ways to professionally contact them through email addresses/contact forms etc...
Definitely! I, too, see so much echo chamber regurgitation in the music biz these days. It's been cool to see what you've been doing with your see/saw page! Truly one of the few writer's I've seen that preaches covering indie/non-household names and actually doing so!
Makes sense, I understand that point! I feel like from my perspective (as both someone who's been running a blog and works in PR for over a decade) what happens when it's a independent artist/band (who doesn't even have a label/manager/booker) but hires a PR firm to break out of their local market?
I feel like some people in the music biz seem to think "if it's local / independent" it's automaticly "cool / good" and if they have a PR agency involved it's automatically deemed "ugh"... Isn't the reason we're all in the industry to push music we like whether or not it falls into either category?
Growing up in Northern Nevada there wasn't really a "local" music scene, in fact it was rare that we even got national bands to perform in the city and so I looked to the other nearest big city's "local" scenes (hi, Vegas, LA and SF)
Gonna be real with you, this feels like an advertisement for spiritual death
Thought I needed more coffee but turns out getting a mobile alert that an earthquake is about to strike and then it hits does the exact same thing
i spoke to @jael.bsky.social about liberation weekend 2025, scheduling a "trans-forward and trans-fronted" music festival under a hostile regime, and leveraging visibility in music to move cultural needles www.vulture.com/article/libe...
Have been working in music PR for nine years and for the life of me I still spell the words "physical" (when talking about physical copies) and "psychedelic" (psych rock) incorrectly... think it would be fun to lean into that and start calling them "psychedelic copies" and "physical rock" instead
constantly oscillating between "it's ok to like whatever pop culture you want" and "enjoying that garbage is a sign of a neglected mind and a malnourished soul"
On the first listen of Wet Leg's new single and I feel like the new stuff may be better than their debut
So rad! Congrats!
Ohh, this looks so cool! Congrats, Annie!
As a sucker for lo-fi, fuzzy power-pop I'm really enjoying this first solo track from Finn youtu.be/J4P4GTNIr84?...
Epic list!
