It was sweet of @cjsfradio.bsky.social to share my CJSF tour report about the campus and community radio station. I was also interviewed for the Bitcouver show, which was a ton of fun. We chatted about college radio history, @archive.org & our shared Silicon Valley youth! www.cjsf.ca/news/cjsf-fe...
That is hilarious (regarding the bin age)!
It was amazing to see USPS mail tubs in a Canadian radio station, along with all sorts of obscure music, record label stickers of personal significance, and so much more. CJSF at Simon Fraser University is my latest college radio station tour report. www.radiosurvivor.com/2026/02/radi...
How many college radio stations are in Lifetime movies? Look closely during "Danger in the Dorm" (starring Bethenny Frankel of RHONY) & you might spot CIVL-FM. The University of the Fraser Valley station (in Abbotsford, BC, Canada) is my latest tour. www.radiosurvivor.com/2026/02/radi...

Gotta love hot pink 1980s playlists! Take a look at what @kjhk907fm.bsky.social was playing in March 1984. archive.org/details/KJHK...
Happy World Radio Day! Radio archives are the best. Celebrate by combing through @dlarc.bsky.social on @archive.org. Some of the latest college radio goodies include playlists, stickers, handwritten record reviews & transcribed interviews with literary luminaries. blog.archive.org/2026/02/13/t...
Thanks! This is a great piece!!
Big thanks to @chly.ca for hosting @ncraanrec.bsky.social and for the fun times in Nanaimo, BC, Canada! Here's my latest radio station tour report, including photos from a bonus trip to the CHLY transmitter site.
I went a little overboard researching early radio at Victoria College/UVic, but it's easy to get obsessed when you find so many intriguing tidbits. Thanks to CFUV for the visit!
Oh, Canada! So excited to launch my series of Canadian radio station tours. First stop is CFUV at University of Victoria. The campus & community station launched over FM 40 years ago, but there were a fascinating series of radio activities before its 1985 debut. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/12/radi...
WESU at Wesleyan University is the final stop on my flurry of 2025 east coast college radio station tours. For those with a station tour bingo card: I spotted a Leo Blais sign AND a Steve Keene painting! www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/12/radi...
A match made in heaven: library + radio station. My latest @radiosurvivor.bsky.social tour is of community radio station KYRS-FM, which is located in the Spokane Central Library. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/12/radi...
WYBC has an amazing history, with student radio initially launching at Yale with a carrier current station in 1941, before expanding to licensed FM & AM stations that reach the broader New Haven community. See my tour of student-run college radio station WYBCx. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/12/radi...
Glad to finally get to see Williams College radio station WCFM. Thanks to Josh Picoult for already doing the archival work to trace the station's history. Student amateur radio broadcasts in the late 1930s led to the creation of carrier current station WMS in 1940 and then FM station WCFM in 1957.
Thanks to @hclibraries.bsky.social for the support and for preserving college radio history! www.haverford.edu/marketing-an...
I was happy to get Alison and Liam from @xcsbcleveland.bsky.social on @radiosurvivor.bsky.social to discuss the latest news about to the shutdown of Cleveland State's student-run college radio station WCSB. Sad footnote: WCSB used to air the Radio Survivor show. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/11/podc...
I was so charmed by WRMC's colorful space. Lavender and pink walls lead to hallway containing a sweet mural. The personality-filled walls hinted at the treasures to come throughout my visit to the 75+ year old college radio station at Middlebury College. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/11/radi...

Thank you so much!
And yes, it's so sad.... We will have more about @xcsbcleveland.bsky.social on @radiosurvivor.bsky.social this coming week.
Perhaps the first Bennington College radio station was launched in 1952 as Augusta "Gus" Bartlett's senior project in physics. She built an AM carrier current station which ultimately used her initials as its call letters in a nod to her important role in conceptualizing and creating the station.
What a pleasure to unearth details about a 1950s Bennington College radio station while completing my latest radio station tour piece. B-Rad is the station today and it is the latest in a long line of fascinating student-built stations. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/11/radi...
I loved visiting Bates College radio station WRBC. The station has it all: sticker-covered walls, thrifted furniture, oodles of history, and a signal that artfully bleeds into a religious station as you enter or leave town. Article on @radiosurvivor.bsky.social www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/11/radi...
I continue to be amazed by the cool projects undertaken by college radio participants. KXDU operates from a tiny space at University of Denver and does a ton to promote the vibrant music scene on campus. Read my tour on @radiosurvivor.bsky.social www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/11/radi...
I went down a serious rabbit hole to find the origins of the claim that Regis University is home to Denver's oldest college radio station KRCX. Learn more in my tour report on @radiosurvivor.bsky.social www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/10/radi...
Read my report on @radiosurvivor.bsky.social about the recent shutdown of college radio station WCSB at Cleveland State. Students and supporters are fighting this deal, which puts jazz programming on the formerly student-run station's FM channel. They share updates at @xcsbcleveland.bsky.social.

College/community radio is alive and well! My new tour report features @wmpg.org at University of Southern Maine. WMPG has been in the limelight thanks to a documentary making the festival circuit. The buzz within the station was also palpable during my visit.

I was psyched to finally get to visit Wellesley College radio station WZLY. What a history! It began as carrier current station WBS in 1942 and went FM in the 1970s. At 83 years old, it is most likely the longest running women's college radio station in the U.S. www.radiosurvivor.com/2025/10/radi...
