I went to an event at the Edinburgh Politics Festival about smartphones and childhood, and went away part of 2 more WhatsApp groups… Oh the irony!
This was too good not to share… I’ve heard pretty much all of these in church spaces when asking about their chosen speakers.
Why is the nhs24 music quite so awful? It sounds like a synthesiser factory being bombed…

One of the first things I heard this morning was my 3 1/2yr old shout, “Yay! It’s 7o’clock!”
What mindset shift would prompt you to leap out of bed with similar enthusiasm?
At what age was your first solo/friends only adventure? Ie multiple hours of travel and/or overnight stay without adult supervision? What age would you let your kids do the same thing?

Prof Cook referenced his recent publication, which I have yet to read (www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1...). Personally I enjoyed Jason Bray’s memoire (“Deliverance”) for an insight into the practicalities of this ministry in the Anglican Church. The spiritist speaker also referenced several papers.
Thought-provoking conference with RCPsych’s Spirituality SIG yesterday on different understandings of possession states. So grateful too to meet and chat to so many fascinating people.

Picture of a pavement with chalk markings which turn a repair strip into a road, with chalk traffic lights and speed signs.
Saw this on my walk to work this morning. Someone’s clearly been having some outdoors, screen-free, creative play. Joyous!

From the inside cover: “If you are one of the many who, whether through intuition or study, are convinced there must be more to the way of Jesus than what Christianity in the modern West is offering, this book is for you. You are not wrong.”
We must remember the ice berg and not be distracted by the tip!

Have you come across Goblin tools?
Last night I wrote a song for the first time in 8 years 🎶 😊
I don’t work in education, but would love to hear the perspective of anyone who does!
Currently 45.9% of pupils in Edinburgh are recorded as having additional support needs. At what point do we just need to entirely rethink our education system?
Getting all packed up for the Scottish Vineyard Worship Gathering!
“Hey - does anyone have any slides I can adapt for the MRCPsych CAMHS anxiety disorders tutorial?”
“Err - you did it last year Naomi. Here are your slides”.
Remember the supermarket game? Played it with my 6yo this morning but with compliments. So fun to hear her say, “I am amazing, beautiful, caring, determined…” etc
I’m on call this weekend and I have a sore throat. Not ill enough to call in sick, but there is a non-zero chance that I’ll lose my voice and have to answer the phone with some husky wheezing sound….
I spent all afternoon and half the evening trying to get my head around the Riddell formula for monitoring, and am no further forward.
“I see no color” is not the goal.
“I see your color and I honor you. I value your input. I will be educated about your lived experiences. I will work against the racism that harms you. You are beautiful. Tell me how to do better.”
... That’s the goal.
“Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. It would help you to have a personal insight into the secrets of the human soul. Otherwise everything remains a clever intellectual trick consisting of empty words leading to empty talk.”
