I didn't know that. I've made 2 of those, they are really nice,one is permanently attached to a 0-4-0ST pug and houses a DCC chip (due to lack of space in the loco) as well as providing additional pick-ups, posted about it recely on my time like, you might enjoy that one.
They are pretty cool, I've done about 8 dapol kits now, plus 3 peco ones, the Peco ones are harder to work though

I have several Hornby locos where the instructions show a different DCC socket to what is in the loco

The wiring is very simple and badly done which is great as it makes the light flicker
I just finished my Dapol Kitmaster 20 Ton Brake Van and I even managed to fit a light to represent the stove, well chuffed

Haha, yes, DCC, just a cheap 4 Pin decoder for this one
Thankfulky no, the amount of weight removed was very very small, about 5-10 grams, inside the body casing is a much larger second weight which fills the boiler and the chassis is a decent weight too
Now chipped, Cadbury Castle joins the fleet at Littleton Model Railway. I only have some random GWR coaches, I will need to sort out a proper train for it later.
