With Texas facing soaring electricity demand, the politics of energy quietly shift at the Capitol The Legislature has tried to clamp down on renewable energy resources in the past, but many lawmakers are recognizing the need to support all types of generation to meet record demand growth.

Market forces will prevail in TX and everywhere: “We’ll need every megawatt from all available resources,” said energy attorney Michael Jewell. “Legislative proposals that hinder resource development are anti-energy.”

The $757B includes both im/explicit tax subsidies, making oil & gas seem cheaper & distorting market realities. It’s a joke for Big Oil Burgum to claim OSW is a mature industry unworthy of incentives, given our history of subsidizing carbon-polluting fuels w far greater downstream costs!

Trump’s Offshore Wind Review to Consider Status of Projects (Bloomberg) -- The Trump administration’s ongoing review of offshore wind projects will feature different treatment for projects actively under development versus those that have merely been proposed,...

These [OSW] projects wouldn’t exist without all of the tax subsidies that they’ve received,” Burgum said. “This is not a young or new industry. It should be able to stand on its own by now.” But wait—aren’t we talking about the $757B in fossil fuel subsidies? finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-o...

People deny climate change, not because the evidence isn’t clear, but because they're afraid of the truth. Backed by billions in corporate money, disinformation thrives. How long will we let profit and lies destroy our future? When will the masses awaken?

I completely agree. Canada & Europe stand to benefit from our failure to prioritize clean energy. It’s incredibly frustrating. While local opposition to project siting will likely persist in Canada & elsewhere, we're actively seeking opportunities where we can offer support beyond the U.S. as well.

Wow: New analysis shows the benefits of OSW farms are 14 times greater than the costs! x.com/rff/status/1...

California policymakers aren't backing down from offshore wind—despite Trump’s opposition. Sometimes, you just need to stand up with conviction to make progress. Will East Coast states follow suit? www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/02/21/c...

Adding to the challenge is the boom of data centers targeting TX. They're not only massive energy suckers but massive water suckers too.

I support efforts to combat mis/disinformation, but responsibility is key. If not us, then who? In the US, the pres spreads falsehoods, denies climate change, & allows unchecked social media. Responsible individuals/orgs must step up, countering harmful narratives w truth, visibility, & persuasion.

Blue states hope their clean energy plans withstand collision with Trump • Stateline President Donald Trump has unleashed a flurry of actions meant to block clean energy projects.

The administration’s approach to wind energy is "a lot of hot air"—lacking rationale & contradicting the energy crisis. We must show the masses renewables’ affordability & reliability, proving their role in meeting immediate needs & long-term sustainability. stateline.org/2025/02/11/b...

Mayors Across US Urge Congress Not to Repeal Clean Energy Tax Credits - Inside Climate News The Inflation Reduction Act incentives for developing clean energy have created thousands of jobs in local communities across the country. The Trump administration froze further spending on them.

Save the IRA tax credits—or end the oil and gas subsidies. You can't protect one while fueling the industries that harm our planet. Dems must make the case for both.

Agree! States have always been the innovator, but the misinformation wars that started well before 1/20 need to be countered with more sophisticated tactics if we make headway.

Blue states need more clean energy investment to meet net-zero goals. Cutting renewables like OSW raises energy prices, burdening ratepayers and risking the 2050 targets. Unfortunately, June's rate hike is just the beginning. Expanding renewables is key to balancing climate and cost.

Biden hikes tariffs on Chinese EVs, solar cells, steel, aluminum — and snipes at Trump Biden administration is announcing plans to slap new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, advanced batteries, solar cells, steel, aluminum and medical equipment.

Politics, Payback, or Posturing? All paths lead to China. Whether it's Biden or Trump, both use tariffs to show who's tougher. But one thing is certain—China is far ahead of America in clean energy. This is where we should be competing.
