Special Recognition Award – for a volunteer who deserves special recognition for such things as: long service, dedication to a specific species or landscape, research which advances the understanding of a species or a recent publication.
Young Volunteer of the Year Award – for a volunteer between the ages of 18 and 35 who has made an impact on their area or project through their volunteering.
Volunteer Community Engagement Award – for a volunteer (or group) who have worked with and engaged their local community in the work of Butterfly Conservation.
Volunteer Newcomer Award – for a volunteer who has joined Butterfly Conservation within the past year and made an impact in their area or project.
Volunteer Impact Award – for a volunteer (or group) whose contributions have made a substantial impact on a local species or landscape.
Volunteer Mentor Award – for volunteer who has taken the time to mentor others alongside their regular volunteering duties.
There are 6 Awards, across different categories, which aim to recognise and celebrate the contributions of volunteers that go above and beyond for the organisation, and for the conservation of butterflies and moths.

Marsh Volunteer Group Award: The Luxmuralis Volunteers and The Friday Guiding Team
Marsh Volunteer Awards: Gillian Scahill, Patrick Rice, Julia Male and Mary O’Shea
These Awards were presented across two different categories and recognise the dedication of the St Paul’s Cathedral volunteers, celebrating both individuals and teams who go above and beyond to welcome visitors and ensure the upkeep of the cathedral.
Last week the MCT presented the Marsh Volunteer Awards in Partnership with St Paul’s Cathedral.

Volunteer of the Year Award
This Winner joined the Museum of London volunteer team this year and has already made an incredible impact. From supporting schools and families to contributing to cultural festivals, his enthusiasm and kindness shine through in every interaction.
Her curiosity and confidence grew throughout the week, leaving a lasting impact on staff and visitors.
Work Experience Student of the Year Award – Tharah Rahman
Tharah impressed us during her placement with creativity, adaptability and professionalism. From helping design a youth-led tour to supporting families in the Mudlarks gallery, she embraced every challenge with enthusiasm.
Over the past year, she’s catalogued historic maps, improved storage, and mastered the library system—all while showing incredible dedication and eagerness to learn. Her commitment and professionalism truly shine!
Young Volunteer of the Year Award – Dorothy Pang
Dorothy started as a UCL student placement and stayed on to make a big impact in the Museum of London library.
From guiding school groups to mentoring new volunteers, their teamwork and dedication have made a lasting impact. Their warmth and professionalism deserve heartfelt recognition!

For 10 years, Jack and Maggie have brought enthusiasm, care and humour to the Museum of London’s Learning Programme.
