There is very little I could do differently, even if I wanted to.

I hope when I am not here anymore, that is understood

I sometimes wish I could love smaller or quieter. I wish I could expect less.

But if I did any of that I would be someone else.

Still,
I’m tired of all of us with open hearts bleeding to death out here.

Some of us cannot help but bleed all of ourselves out into the atmosphere, hoping that someone actually understands.

It’s rare for anyone to understand and rarer still to find people who stop the bleeding.

I doubt, very much, that I learned as much as I should have from this exercise: it’s only even now that I really understand what the lesson was. And I believe the lesson was far too late, tbh.

Years ago, a poet friend of mine asked me to write about what I loved. To describe it in great detail. Then the last step of the prompt was to bury it.

It was a hard lesson in putting so much of myself into anything.

I don’t anticipate being here much longer, but for the time I have left here, can I just ask if we can as a whole, do better?

Being tagged in and erased in the same post is weird.

And by the way, that doesn’t stop when they turn 18.

It doesn’t even stop when you’re dead.

Your job isn’t to protect outdated ideas. Your job is to listen and to help them to make the world they want.

Ask more questions about the world they want and why.

Your job is to be a guide, not a prison guard.

And for the most part, they know better than you do.

People who want to “protect” children: from their bodies, their hearts, their spirits, do not want to protect them. They want to control them.

They want to keep them locked in the same choices and patterns that they had.

There’s a lot of people out here believing that they are thinking straight when their hearts aren’t open.

My teacher reminded me of what an open heart does for your brain today.

And I needed to remember that.

And we will be worse for it. Forever worse.

We will lose them to somewhere else because we are entitled and selfish as a culture, and because most people are too terrified to say “No more,” in a language in which these monsters can hear it.

He said he is considering moving to Canada, transferring there with his job because it’s easier than trying to stay.

All of this is garbage. Give us your poor, your tired, your hungry. And these young people are elite.

Talked to a rider today who is here on a visa, and whose coworker’s visa was revoked today.

Read up on HR 22 and call your reps. Especially if you’re in a conservative district. Please.

I used to think I understood people.

I do not. Understand. People.
I do not understand people, at all.

And mostly, that’s fine.

If he can disappear asylum seekers for tattoos, he can disappear you.

We must speak out now — before there is no one left to speak out.

Not every act of resistance has to be enormous.

Some are simply acts of love, acts of care, acts of solidarity.

We are all in this together.

Time to act like it.
