Placing further restrictions on purchases made with SNAP, WIC, and other food assistance add red tape and administrative costs to the programs and make little appreciable difference in health outcomes. #ProtectSNAP @prcumasschan.bsky.social @masslegalhelp.bsky.social @fracposts.bsky.social

SNAP & WIC are fully funded through Sept 30, 2026. While there is a very slim chance of a federal government shutdown Jan 30, in Massachusetts, SNAP & WIC will not be affected and benefits will go out on their usual schedule. @fracposts.bsky.social @repmcgovern.bsky.social @warren.senate.gov

More than 16,000 Worcester families rely on SNAP. We stand with our neighbors and advocacy groups across the country to urge USDA to send November SNAP benefits now. Hungry families can't wait.

The USDA has the legal authority and moral responsibility to send SNAP benefits for November. Our families are not bargaining chips.

USDA Says It Won’t Use Emergency Funds to Provide SNAP Benefits During Shutdown With benefits set to halt in November, the agency said in a memo it also won’t reimburse states after the government shutdown ends.

The USDA says it lacks the legal authority to use contingency funds for food assistance benefits, increasing the likelihood that millions of people will go without aid next month.

Opinion/Guest column: Chip EBT cards answer to SNAP theft Nearly every other credit and debit card in the marketplace utilizes chip technology to protect against card-skimming.

Thieves using skimmers steal about $1M a month from households that use SNAP, often leaving them with no way to buy food for their families. The long-term solution is replacing the current EBT cards with chip & pin cards. In the meantime, the state must return to replacing stolen funds.
