"The president is very serious about lowering interest rates."
"The president is very serious about lowering interest rates."
Whenever his cabinet praises him I'd love it if they overlaid their audio with Trump's stupidest moments.
Just to make sure we're all on the same page with this, but Trump's last straw with Noem was because she's bad on TV, right? Not because of any of the actual horrible shit.
Great work by RANGE and Erin on this. It's such tough, but worthwhile, work
LeS has done fantastic work in eastern WA and it'd be easy to look at a story like this with the state of things and criticize it, but it's important to hold people in positions of power accountable for their actions
We haven't flipped enough shit Hegseth's way about him trying to call soldiers "warfighters" like he's playing 40k.
He wants to be seen as cool but just reeks of desperation
Judging by Michael's response to the article it might just get fast tracked
The GOP spent decades doing work on smaller elections at the school board level and above and they saw that work come to fruition over the past ~15-20 years. Now they might just watch it all get wiped out by the end of the term because Trump doesn't care what the GOP looks like after he's gone.
Are desperately looking for some kind of strategy going into the midterms, but they can't really move off "immigrants bad" messaging because they've tied their political futures to an 80 year old who is deeply unpopular and on the wrong side of the pedophile issue (???)
There is a stunning lack of political strategic leadership in the GOP. They're losing election after election all over the country -- local, state, national. And these are comparatively low turnout special election in an off-year.
I think what's likely is that much of the GOP rank and file...
The lack of urgency from Johnson and other Republicans is so strange. Either they're confident that Trump can control the elections or Johnson is trying to send a message to Trump et al about taking the election seriously.
If the larger Democratic apparatus had any vision for the long-term prospects of their party they'd take these election results like in TX as a signal to clean house on any elected Dem over the age of 60 and run 25-40 years olds everywhere they can
But they won't
Good day for ones named Mike
Nearly the entire subreddits feed is about the murder. The day before the NFC championship between two teams from the NFC West that will determine which one will go to the super bowl
A meme with 5 people sitting with the ICE logo over their head while a 6th person who is standing over them with NFC West logo. The caption reads "Smells like bitch in here"
I literally just opened it and the first post I see is this 25 minute old post on r/nfcwestmemewar
Reddit is my go-to for things like sports and cooking etc. it is everywhere.
Abolish ICE and charge, arrest, and prosecute all the cowards responsible for this senseless violence
"the weave" like they're talking about the freakin' Dempsey roll.
Like it's clear that Dems felt they lost 2024 because of the "price of eggs" and want to focus on those issues. They're constantly reactive and never proactive. @schumer.senate.gov, @booker.senate.gov you guys can actually *set* the message and tone on these things instead of letting it pass by.
There was a poll last week about how ~40% of Americans have some level of support for abolishing ICE. It's almost entirely an organic position. It's the moderate position. Imagine where it'd be if big name Dems were hammering this issue on Sunday shows and in opeds?
This is a photo of Spokane Trash Goat is a metallic sculpture in Spokane, Washington. It has a vacuum inside that sucks up trash from people's hands.
I present the Spokane Trash Goat. A sculpture that will vacuum up trash from your hand.
Just condemn the actions! Trump put into motion an illegal military operation that put Americans lives at risk, lied to Congress about it, violated another country's sovereignty, and entangled us in another fruitless regime change to enrich oil barons.
You literally don't even need to name Maduro
I'm a "process over outcomes" kind of guy and this is the most extreme version of why I'm objectively right. You don't need need to qualify this! "Maduro was bad, but our actions were also bad" muddies the water at best and at worst gives strengthens their argument that the ends justify the means
The toxicity of gun politics has really overshadowed the fact that car politics is so much worse. It crosses all sorts of political, socioeconomic, cultural, geographic etc. barriers. People's worst instincts come out if you suggest reducing a lane or reducing parking spots.
It's a really powerful essay (albeit dense even by 18th century standards) that I found relevant in the digital age and long before AI. Worth a read.

With the rise and salient use of AI, I've been thinking a lot about Kant's essay "What is Enlightenment?"
"If I have a book to serve as
my understanding, a pastor to serve as my conscience, a physician to determine my diet for me, and so on, I need not exert myself at all."
Like this isn't really news about how he operates. If you string together one sentence and a compliment you'll get his full backing (until his next conversation).
I distinctly remember this as a story during the Obama-Trump transition. Lots of stuff about how Trump will listen to the last person he talked to.
A satellite image of downtown with red splotches covering it to indicate
If you can squint you can just make our the cat.
I know when I go downtown, it's exclusively to take advantage of the parking lot rates. The businesses there are just a bonus.
I can understand, maybe, some short-term chafing around this, but longer term getting lots redeveloped into mix use buildings would be better for downtown businesses
